Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am new to this group and wanted to help everyone out.  I would LOVE to give advice on how to choose your groomer, how to maintain the style that you choose, and how to describe what you are looking for haircut-wise on your pooch. I've seen many horror stories on here about doodle owners not getting what they would like to achieve, and I'm hoping that with answering some of your questions, you will be able to walk into a grooming salon with confidence knowing that you are asking the right questions.

Ok I will...

You rock Jennifer, I always smile big when I see it!

Yikes! I just got back from the groomer. She didn't follow the advice on the checklist I provided (cut her shorter and cut her legs the same as her body). Sophie Bear looks like a bobblehead. She's still cute though. I kinda like those skinny little legs, and her fur short like that is so soft and velvety! I'll post pics later.
Ok, I'm writing up a blog on her first groom. The pics will be there. :o)

Hi Valerie, I just posted a discussion with photos of Daisy's groom, let me know what you think.

I think it's hilarious that they put those little tiny bows in this big dogs ears but I too love it! Her old groomer uses bandanas.

Hi Valerie! How wonderful of you to give us all such great advice!  I sure have had my share of BAD hair cuts for Tori.  One time (at Petco :oP) I spent 20 minutes speaking to the "grooming manager" about what I wanted, only to come back and find my Doodle looked like her Poodle genes just exploded!  Her butt area was shaved and so sore.  She even had a hard time peeing without having to sit... poor thing - I cringed every time she went potty for that whole week.  But THANK my lucky stars... I found a wonderful groomer who is terrific with Tori and does EXACTLY what I want.  She is so patient with Tori as well.  I do like her hair long and shaggy like her australian shepherd side.  This was the first time EVER that I asked for a short cut (I freaked when I found a tick clinging to her hair - and she doesn't really even spend time out on the grass)- she gave her a "puppy cut".  she looks great.  I asked for her head and ears as well as tail to be left long tho'.  Not sure how that goes from a groomer point of view, but I love it!  LOL.  I also love the way my groomer does her legs and feet - the feet are in a sort of a box -squared cut and her legs come out 'feathery' if that's a good way to explain it.
