Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

It is our first hot weekend (low 80s, which is about as hot as it gets here) and I took the dogs for a walk for our Sunday morning outing.  Harpo was walking from shade to shade and then resting.  Hondo used to to the same thing from the time he was a little pup (8-10 weeks), but Groucho never paid attention to him.  Now, however, Groucho is following Harpo.  The biggest problem is that we have mostly oak trees and poison oak grows under oak trees.  My husband cleaned up the dogs after we got home, and I hope none of us get poison oak.  So far, Hondo is the only doodle who got poison oak, but we will see with Harpo. Is this a labradoodle trait, since both of my labradoodles did it?  I thought it was funny when Hondo did it as a little pup, but now Harpo does the same thing.

I had to look at where you live, because I think I want to live somewhere that 80 is as hot as it gets. I'm melting! We're thrilled when it "cools down" into the 80s down here!
80 degrees would be a chilly summer day for me in TN. LOL!!!!!
Yes, it really is paradise here on the Central Coast of California.  The temperature is between 55 and 75 for 90 percent of the year.  Maybe that is 95 percent.  We have a few cold days and a few hot days each year and last weekend was a heat spell.  My inlaws are coming from Arizona for a visit this week and I had to remind them to bring a jacket or a sweatshirt.  My SIL said that the only time in her entire life that she had to wear a jacket to watch the 4th of July fireworks was when she was here for a wedding on the 4th of July.
Oh yeah, one of my favorite family stories was when we were in Havasu for the 4th of July.  We went to watch the fireworks and it was still too hot to step on the white concrete around the pool when we hot home.  We left the next morning and it was 116 degrees, drove all day with the air conditioner and when we arrived home it was 58 degrees in our driveway.  Ahhhhhhhh, the nice cool air.  I stay away from Arizona from May until October now.  If I HAVE to go, it is from air conditioned airplane to air conditioned car, to air conditioned house.  I am definitely an Arizona wuss.
It's 97 degrees here and Brinkley only looks for shade after he's played for awhile and needs to rest in the shade.

Can I just say that as a UK resident, I AM VERY JEALOUS!

We are enjoying a bit of a summer this year - temperatures hit maybe 75 for a day and a half and thats our summer done!

The doodles do struggle a bit in the heat but I have noticed that little Lucy will dig away at the top soil in the garden and lie on the cooler soil below. Both stick to the shade when they can but will stay outside if we are out there.

But sadly they don't suffer for long, we're supposed to be back to rain later this week. They are not keen on that either though.
