Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi,

I have a friend who has a beautiful male Goldendoodle, I think about 3 years old. She loves him but has had to go back to work full time and is not able to give him the attention he needs. Is there anyone who may be looking for a cute doodle boy in Southern CA? She is hoping to stay in touch with him, when he does go to a new home.

Please email me at julieconrad@roadrunner.com  if you have any suggestions for her.

Thank youi,

Julie Conrad

Did you contact the DRC?

My thoughts exactly!!
thank you--I will pass the information onto my friend

Oh I want him sooo bad.

Where about Southern California?

Orange County--your profile Doodle is adorable. Looks like this guy. I'm going to see if I can get a picture.
Thanks.
The great thing about going through a rescue organization like the DRC is that they will screen the applicants and also if those new owners cannot keep him, he will go back to the DRC rather than being passed casually to someone else.
yes, that is true. Thankfully, most rescues are like that. I know that is a big concern of hers. I personally could never think of giving up any of my pets, but I'm in the minority. This guy is a real sweetie and does deserve (what dog doesn't deserve), and want, a lot more attention than what they give him. She lives in Orange County.
Wish you were closer Im in Chicago ,,any Pictures?

If Jackdoodle were given a choice between staying here in his home with me but being left alone all day while I worked, and not getting as much attention as he'd like, or losing me, his home, and everything that is familiar to him in the world, I can tell you without question what he would choose. It is not a kindness to rip the earth out from under a dog's feet, no matter how a good a new home he eventually gets. Sometimes it cannot be avoided, as when a person dies or becomes physically incapacitated. But if your friend truly loves her dog, he will be happier staying right where he is, even if he has to be alone more than he would like. All he really wants is to be with her.

I completely agree with you if this dog had a home like you or I have. My dog would also feel as yours would. However, this family does not treat their dogs (they've had dogs in the past who have either run away or they have given away) that way. In fact, I was very shocked when she told me she really cared. I don't see her often, but the three times I've seen her this year, the dog has been in his crate while everyone is home. He just sits there staring out at everyone. I beg her to let him out and she says he's too rowdy. My son is a friend of her son's and he does not like to go over there because he has to see such an unhappy dog. He said they let him out, only to let him outside to be alone, staring into the glass door, wanting to be with his people. Again, I ask her about that and she says he is too rowdy or dirty. So, as you can see, this is a different situation than what you describe. They did used to take him on walks, on occasion, before she went to work full time. But when I ask about those being regular things, she says he isn't trained so it's no fun. I gave her names of trainers and schools and even offered to train him, but she won't take the time. The straw that broke the camel's back was the other day my son saw the dog and came home saying the dog's hair is so long he can't see and he asked her about it. She told him she can't take him to the groomer because he hasn't had his rabies shot, that she doesn't have time to take him to get it.

Argghh! I wish I could take this baby, but we are moving, losing our house to a short-sale, and are having a hard enough time finding a rental with the two dogs and two cats we already have.
