Excessive Boy Part Licking. YUCK

Jack seems to have found a new hobby. He is licking his penis all the time, and sorry for the TMI but it is actually exposed and not in the skin. BLEAK

 

It is not red, swollen of inflamed, his urine test not that long ago was fine. How much is normal behavior and what the heck do I do to stop it? It really grosses me out and I am tempted to put little boy underwear on him to make him stop.

 

Any advise??? Where else is one to go to ask a questions such as this?

ROFL!  I'm not telling you what I normally call it ... this is a family-friendly site! *grin* (Okay, I normally use "willy" ... don't tell my little brother, whose name is ... yep, William.)  Been working with dogs most of my life, and have had to tell dog owners "ermmm, a trip to the vet is in order here, there's pus leaking from his ...ummm ... ". *grin*  I just absolutely love the term "cherry chap stick" for it.

(And at Lachlan's age, commonly heard around my house is "Dood, that's a pillow, not a girlfriend!")

I agree with Laurie.  Reading Laurie's comment reminded me.  Weiner (no pun intended) did this when he had a yeast infection.

I have had male dogs for almost 20 years and never have had one do that. I would go to the vet.

Surely you don't mean the emergency vet because I am very quick to overeact with Jack but there is no way I am going to rush him to the ER because he is licking himself. I guess I will call the vet in the am.. what do I care what they think of me, they already know I am crazy..

Finally the lip stick has gone back in the case but I am standing over him and every time he goes to lick, I tell him no, all day when I said no, he just goes in the corner where he thinks I can't see him and licks...

 

To the vet we go tomrorow. Code licking himself...

This reminds me of the old joke...why do boy dogs lick their penis' ?? BECAUSE THEY CAN !!!

Maybe it's just adolescence !!!

Louie has never done this either so I'd check with the vet...and no, not the ER vet Jennifer...Just think how we make the vet staff laugh when we make this kind of call!!! Makes their day I'm sure.
