Picky puppy!

Our 9-week-old puppy is a picky little thing... She will drink from her stainless steel bowl but refuses to eat from her stainless bowl! I have read on here many dogs do not like the stainless bowls... I am not opposed to trying something else (ceramic) but why will she drink but not eat from the bowl? She will eat if the food is on the floor... Help!

My guy did the same thing, so I turned a small ceramic bowl (heavy) upside down and put a dinner plate on top and I have had no problem. He has been eating like that since he was 5 months old. It is off the floor and he doesn't have to bend down which he likes... Maybe your little guy would like it too.  Don't know why the bowl thing doesn't work for them.  Try it..

ps Don't be surprised when he starts putting his front paws in the water bowl....Kai did it but he got over it...patience is the key.

My only guess is that the kibble bouncing around the stainless steel bowl bothers her more...perhaps the sound?  Whereas water doesn't make that same noise.

I was also going to suggest that the tags (if you have any on the collar) may be hitting the bowl and make more noise with the kibble because (as Adina said) the kibble moves around and so is their head for that matter. My Golden didn't like the stainless for that reason.Too noisy:)

She is a funny little girl! She doesn't mind the tags clanking on the stainless water dish. We tried a ceramic bowl and she barked like a nut! We then placed a plate on it with the food on the plate... barked some more... and then we tried just food on the plate on the floor. She ate half of it and started barking at it again! I guess we made some progress!

I just looked at my bowl and it was not turned upside down...the large side held the plate...I have been cleaning all day and so tired...Maybe it will work for you....
