Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I just had the worst experience with a doodle breeder and see he is still advertising on here. I feel I should warn others as doodles are not registered with ckc.

This breeder took a large deposit under false pretences. He refuses to respond to my messages. I am convinced he has done this many times before and what makes it worst is he conducts himself as being a "good Christian" ..... beware .... beware...beware.

Please contact me should you wish to know more.

can you provide more facts: when did you place the deposit? What messages (emails, phone calls)? How long has it been since you tried to reach him?
Hello

I have been searching for a labradoodle for almost 4 months. Having had a wonderful Golden Retreiver for years ... and loosing him to old age ... I waited 3 years before I began my search in order to ensure I was emotionally ready to give my heart to another dog.

I spoke with the breeder in question only a week ago for the first time. He certainly checked all the boxes with his answers although I have to admit my instincts were telling me to be careful. He sent a picture of what is truly the most handsome looking dog of any breed I have ever seen. The description of the personality etc was near perfect. This dog sounded like it could walk on water. I'm embarassed to admit my heart won out at that moment. The breeder put such a high sense of urgency on making a decision that moment I foolishly allowed myself to be bullied by his tactics. He stated the pup (almost 6 months old) needed to be neutered right away if I was buying him and insisted I send him $300 to cover the cost of this. I sent it to him by paypal.

Within 4 hours I contacted him stating I was uncertain and to NOT proceed with the neuturing until I got back to him the next day. I contacted him at 6 am by e=mail the following day to say I was going to wait until I moved to my farm in the spring as I felt living in a condominium was going to be too problematic around house training. He responded offering a number of things: a free book, driving the dog to me (2,000 kilometers), sourcing farm equipment for me, sourcing sheep for me, financing my farm expansion, free "breeding doodles" etc etc.... bizarre.

I responded by stating I appreciated all the offers but had decided to wait and asked for the return of my money. He has not responded to any e-mails, has blocked my phone number, and clearly is going to keep the money.

Whats worse is he had told me neuturing was so important before the dog had his first sexual experience to make training easier when I see he has the same dog listed as the sire of a litter he is trying to now sell.

I am not sure any more if this dog even really exists or its just a picture he is using to lure other perspective buyers ... shameful man!!!
Mike- Is this the "wonderful breeder" that you were getting the 5-mo-old puppy from, that you discussed in the "house training" post?
It sure is. What a dishonest man. All of the discussions were heavily laced with re assurances of how much of a Christian man he was ... I just want to warn others about him.,
I am going to add you to my 'friends' list so that you can private message me the info; those of us involved in rescue are concerned with this type of person.
I look forward to hearing from you.
you can file a claim with paypal and do a charge back
Thank you ... I didn't know that. I'm going to do that right now.
Mike, let us know if we can help in any way.
where is this breeder located?
This breeders name is Dave Nikell of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Beware of anything he should tell you. It's now almost a week later and I've filed a complaint with Paypal to try and stop the transfer of the money sent.

Should he end up with the money I intend on filing an action in small claims here in British Columbia and am confident I will end up with a "Judgement" against this man.

Feel free to contact me with any other information you may require.
None. It wasn't a deposit in the sense I think you mean. He had insisted the dog needed to be neutured (the next day actually) and wanted me to pay $300 to have this done. That was the money I sent him. I notified him 4 hours later the same day not to go ahead with the neutering.
