She's "cafeing", new verb. But lots of chocolates get lighter. She's still beautiful though.
Both her parents are parchment/lavender.  I knew she was going to get light and I suspect she will  be lighter than cafe.  I love it!`
This is her grandfather.
Handsome guy.
He is stunning.
This is where we started.  Amazing the transformation.
She looks sooooo dark in this puppy picture that I assumed she was black.
She looks black in that picture!
I think the parchment/lavenders are gorgeous! She'll look stunning no matter what color she ends up!
She is the absolute sweetest doodle ever.  I don't care what color she is.... is seems like it changes every day!  By the time she is 3 I should know what color she is going to be.  Cool.

Was she black in that first photo?

We are changing here too.  Just yesterday I was digging in the undercoat because I swore I was looking at a gun metal grey or pewter shade down there?   Who knows?  A drastic difference in coat color.

So three?  Is that standard for a final guess at the coat color or just standard with your breeders pups?

She was a deep dark chocolate..never black.  The info I have read about chocolate doodles is that sometime between 1 and 3 years the transformation takes place.  She abruptly started getting light across her back at around a year.  Her legs, tail, head and ears are still dark.  I think the difference in the now and before pictures is the white balance setting on the camera.  I was just showing you how she was dark all over.  My black doodle, now deceased, started black and ended up silver.
