Pooping

I am a little concerned with Amante. He has not pooped all day! He did a little yesterday, but not like his normal self. Do you think I should worry. His teeth have been bothering him so his eating is down. It has also been VERY hot.

I'm sure others will be able to chime in on this one. I think I would be concerned, but not to the point of a vet visit.

yes he is drinking and urinating. He is eating some. He is playful.

If his teeth are bothering him, I would think that is the reason. He probably is not eating enough right now to poop often.   As long as he is drinking and playing, I wouldn't worry too much.  If he really doesn't eat or go tomorrow I would call the vet and ask.  BUT.... whenever you can, just as precaution for times when you MAY need it... get yourself some pure canned pumpkin.  It's great for tummy issues and works for constipation or diarrhea.  Hope he is better tomorrow!

I was under the impression that pumpkin was only for diarrhea!!! I do have some pumpkin.  I froze it in ice cube trays I will give him one. THANKS!!! I always feel better after I talk to my DK crew!!!!

Poor baby-I agree that the food intake probably has a main thing to do with it. I guess I would call the vet if it's the same tomorrow??? Hope he feels better.

Just checking in.  How is he doing today?  BTW ~ pumpkin can go either way (haha - that just sounded funny to me), but yes works as a laxative type or firmer... amazing isn't it?  good luck!  You may want to melt down the frozen pumpkin if he is having trouble with his teeth.  Maybe let it melt and put it on a nyla bone, in a kong, something that makes it 'fun' to lick off.

I  already gave it to him frozen. OOPs I thought the ice would numb his mouth a little. He gobbled it up!!! Now I feel bad, my poor love. Thanks Shelly

If he ate it, I am sure it was fine!  You are correct the ice would be great for his gums just was worried about his loose teeth....Glad to see he ate it!  YES!

WE HAVE POOP!!!! ALL DAY LONG!!! WE even had an indoor accident, but i didn't care was happy he went. They were perfect, not runny!!  I panic because I lost my last dog because I listened to the vet and didn't follow my gut.Now I have a new vet, but I am not trusting!!! I am one of THOSE patients.

Don't feel bad! I always gave Sunny ice cubes when she was teething. I think it soothed her gums. She didn't crunch the ice cubes, she just picked them up and lightly chewed, then spat them out again and licked them, making a giant mess in the process.
