Hi Everyone, I thought it would be interesting to show the various coat changes in our F1 Doodles. State the type of Doodle, the age and add the pics. I think it would be fun so see all the differences.
This is a fun discussion. My husband just commented on Saturday (after Kachi's grooming) that his fur is getting darker & coarser on his back & tail. He's still really soft everywhere else, and his tail is starting to fan like a golden reteiver. He is now 7 months old, so I am wondering if his coat will continue to change.
7 weeks old.
3 months old
6 1/2 months old.
So pretty. From what I understand, they can continue to change in color and coat up to two yrs old but not sure, since my Sadie is only 4 1/2 mos now.
I took her in to a groomer for a bath a couple of weeks ago and was shocked when I got her back. She looked twice as wide!!!! All fluffed up. In about a day it was laying down more again. It reminded me of a plaque I saw years ago.... a picture of a sheep and it said "Ewe's not fat, Ewe's fluffy".. lol.. it sure fit her that day.
Halas looks extra fluffy after he's been to the groomer, too. He's 23 lbs, but looks about 40 lbs. When our dog park opens, I plan to take him to the small dog area. I'm a little worried people will think he's too big, so I had my mom make him a special bandana to wear to the dog park. It says...
I would love to share Samanthas coat changes - I have questions about their coats - but I have no clue on how to share them here. Please share the basics.
thanks, Adrianne
Here is Samantha at 3 months, 5 months, 7 months. Her coat is now growing in down the top, starting at her neck, seems a little straighter and filled with Kemp. Her legs are more of a Latte color but the hair coming in is darker. Her face is still the same just longer, more highlights and more wind blown. I can't figure out what her coat will look like. Anyone have a Doodle like this?
I think Samantha is a beauty too. She may end up being a parchment color. I think that is one of the prettiest coloring of the doodle coats. Her tail looks like it's really filling out too. I've heard many don't until they are 10 mos old. I notice longer hair coming in on Sadies, but nothing like that yet, but she is just 5 mos old now.
Thank you - so far Samantha's adult coat seems to be coming in starting between her shoulders. It is coming in thick, seems to be wavy and chocolate but mixed with kemp - which I don't like but what can I do other than color her hair every month when I do?!? What's interesting is the her chest and belly hair is thinner, straight and no kemp at all. The hair on her head is still basically straight and very much highlited. It is almost like her head and her are 2 separate puppies.
Her tail is coming in nice, thick and feathery. She will be 10 months old next week. It will be interesting to see what her coat looks like in a month.
Have a great day!! We are off to buy more Plant Dog tennis balls. We seem to loose them in the leaves and then the dog park.
