Do doodles have sensitive stomachs?  I can give my Brittany a few select food items, but when I give it to my doodle, diarrhea for days.

My Golendoodle has a cast iron stomach but my Labradoodle's stomach is very sensitive. I need to be very careful what I give Oliver. I gave him about a 1/4 tablespoon of cooked liver the other night and by morning diarrhea !!!! The Rachel Ray "Only 6" ingredient dog biscuits are the best plus my dogs like them too.
Thanks for your response. I will have to try those biscuits!

Oh I totally agree.

My friends tell me - all sorts of good and bad food they feed their non-doodle dogs.   including greasy human food stuff.  They never complain about any type of stomach issues.

My pup can't handle any treats.  Even something healthy like carrot, or yogurt.  Heck - he has a hard time handling his very healthy food.

I wish I can give him a little something - especially when he is being so good.  But I don't want to deal with all the dirrahea.

Is this the poodle genes?  I heard some of them have sensitive tummies.

I'm not sure it's a doodle thing, since 'doodle' can mean so many things, but an individual dog thing.  Mine don't have very sensitive stomachs at all.  And Rosco, Thule, and Boca have eaten their fair share of people food (both with permission and without) as well as non-food items.
Yep.  They are famous for this.  Sheila's diet very limited and regimented.  Check w/ the Food Group.
Mine don't really have sensitive stomaches-they'll eat anything, mostly no problems.
I don't think that it is a "doodle" trait, but Camus ( a F1 labradoodle) has a very sensitive system, digestion, skin, allergies - the works!  He is currently getting over gastritis and his stomach lining is thickened, which means this has been going on for awhile.  I am now trying to determine exactly what he can eat.  But, I think it is all up to the dog gods, since I have met lots of people with doodles who have "cast-iron stomachs".  I do have to say that in spite of his sensitivities Camus is a very, very, happy doodle boy.

Trixie has a Sensitive Tummy Too.  I feel bad also as there doesnt seem to be a treat out there that she can handle.

My Previous dogs could eat ANYTHING & did with never a problem in 20 years.   So this is very new to me.

Yes, I agree.  I feel bad that one can get treats and the other can't so we as a family do it discreetly so Lucky doesnt know he is missing out...but if there was a treat he could handle that didn't give him diarrhea, wonderful!

Try Trader Joe's Chicken Strips. Just chicken, made in USA.
