Stuart just barfed up part of a stick.  Nice.  This dog will eat anything.  Just in the last few days I've taken snails (its been raining a lot here), mulch, rocks, plastic poo bag, sticks, leaves, weeds, a fake plant, shoes, and a bra out of his mouth.  It is driving me nuts.  Rooney and Stuart both love rabbit poop but Stuart will just eat anything except his own poop thank God.  I'll deal with him trying to get the stuff inside the house but how do I stop him once we are outside.  Grrrr, he is on my last good nerve!

Riley sounds similar, snails, cat poop, sticks, leaves, flowers, toilet paper ( a big favorite), shoes especially expensive mens ones and a bra too all find their way into his mouth although I have taught him "leave it' but this means I have to have high value treats on hand.   I have noticed that he is listening to me more and will instantly drop whatever is in his mouth.  Problem is watching all the time.  I'm using a canny collar to walk him now not because he is bad on leash but because it means he has to walk with his head up.  Good luck to us both!
HEY!  I think he is related to Tori!  LOL... seriously - I feel your pain!  Tori was the same way... she still delights in grabbing what she can't have...
We also do "drop it" but now that he has some freedom outside due to our efence all I ever do is run around taking stuff from his mouth.  I don't want to yell but it is ruining our outdoor time.

No words of advice here, Jane, just sympathy! Lachlan thinks his name is Leave It, I'm pretty sure, although he's starting to get better on walks at least. There's hope!

A friend asked me a few weeks ago what it would take to make my fenced back yard truly safe for Lachlan. I just looked at him and replied, deadpan, "Concrete."

yes, Lilly and Stuart will make a mighty fine pair:)

When you are outside, have you tried squirting him with a sport cap water bottle and saying no or growling "BAH!" at him when he starts to pick up something you don't want him to?  This is a trick from my trainer and it is working wonders with my dog Thor.

Hey Jane

Sophia is the same only her favorite thing to eat is the black ants on our deck!!!  Plays with them and devours them.  She has also taken a liking to pine needles, my cedar bushes and ornamental grasses..  So far she has only gotten sick once and let me tell you what came up was not for the faint of heart, to clean.......LOL
