We got our first Doodle when we were in our mid 50's. He was the most loving little dog you could ask for and perfect for the older person as he demonstrated when we took him to visit my M.I.L in a Nursing home. He passed away in January 210 and we thought because of our age and so on we wouldn't get another dog, but DH saw an add for a Doodle 8 months old who could go to the pound and we ended up with Jasper who is now 2 but is a handful as he wants to play from daylight to dusk and after. We are now in our mid 60's and we tirer quicker than he does but we would not be without him as he is also a very loving little dog and loves to be a lap dog though he dosen't always fit. He loves to just be with us and we with him on walks visits and rides in the car  and also til lately caravan holidays. but as I am now disabled we are looking to find other ways to take him on holidays as his dad could not bear to think of him in a Kennel.
everyone, thank you for your stories about your furbabies. I am so happy to hear that others are enjoying raising babies again. Okay, it is 4:45 in the morning and before Lilly I would be enjoying my beauty sleep.  I hope some of you are able to do the cruise next October.. maybe we can have a babyboomer and older get together on board.. If you haven't heard about the cruise, message me and I will invite you to join the group.

Hi Mimi

Now that we have Sophia, my life has gone from morning relaxation to morning frenzy.  When she wakes in the morning, I had better be ready to    1.take her out for a potty   2. Breakfast   3.  Walk   If we deviate from that schedule, the Pink Pirahana rears her ugly head...

I had become so used to drinking copious amounts of coffee, "researching" on the computer plus watching the morning news, till at least 10 a.m.   Now I am lucky if I get to sleep in till 6:30.

At 57 I think all this activity is very good for me....

My grandchildren have finally left so my DH and I are trying to get a better routine for us and Sophia, for the rest of the day.  We hope without the extra excitement that the girls brought to our home, that she will finally settle down....... wishfull thinking in my part I am sure.

Janel... I hear ya sister:) we are getting into a routine. one time up at night. hold her off whining in the crate until 530am and then out/breakfast/out..we just walk around the yard, I have not ventured off the property. She knows how to ring the bell to go out.. but she hasn't learned it is just for going potty... so she has it good. ring bell and wait for her human to jump and take her out...really hate not having a fenced in back yard. she is now "reading" the coastal magazine so I can have another cup of coffee and type..
