Thanks Adina...so technically could multigens exhibit very good traits in these categories, since that is what they would be bred for?
Sure.  Why not?  Both multigens and early gens both have potential to exhibit whatever mix of traits were available from their parents.
Thanks Jennifer! I looked more on the breeder's website and there is some information. I just wanted to see if any of you fabulous DoodleMoms are mothers of any multigens and could comment on them. :-)
Ned is a labradoodle. He is a seventh generation labradoodle.  He looks just like his parents. His coat easily mats (not a good trait) but everything else about him seems perfect.
Thanks Nancy! Are Ned's parents both Labradoodles? The litter I am looking at is Dad is a Goldendoodle and Mom is a Poodle. So would the puppies be more poodly in this case?
Riley is a sixth generation Labradoodle.  He looks just like his parents.  So far no mats but he hasn't gone through the coat change yet.  He is just what we wanted and expected.
It sounds to me like you're looking at F1B goldendoodles, not multigen. What generation goldendoodle is the dad? My puppy is an F1B labradoodle--her dad is a standard poodle and her mom an F1 labradoodle. F1Bs, because they are 75% poodle, are less likely to shed, but I wouldn't say that Sadie is particularly "poodly"--there was a lot of coat variety in her litter, and she doesn't really look like a lab or a poodle (what I hear most is "miniature Irish wolfhound").
The mom is a poodle, and the dad is listed as a multigen. I'm not sure what generation he is. Will that matter?

So as long as the dad is an F3 or higher than it will count I think.  Some multigens and even Australian labradoodles add in poodle now and then.  I'm not as much of a fan of that, because there's a point where I think...well why not get a POODLE? There's nothing wrong with pure standard poodles..they are great dogs!

But I guess it depends on the breeder's goals and what they are correcting for in the coat, etc.  Since the breed is 'in development' there's a lot of ways to do it.

Thanks Adina! After I posted this I received a message from someone who got two doodles from the same breeder I am looking at, and they are both also multigens. I looked at her pics, and the coat types on both of them are EXACTLY what I'm looking for! How cool is that!? This is such a fantastic site Adina... :-)
Yes, Ned is a labradoodle.  You are not going to find seventh generation goldendoodles just because that mix hasn't been around long enough - I think.  The litter you are looking at is probably an F1b - with the theory that the pups will have a more poodle-like non-shedding coat.  There are lots of F1b labradoodles and goldendoodles on this site.
If one parent is a 50% retriever/50% poodle goldendoodle and the other parent is a poodle that is an F1b--NOT a multigen.  But VERY common.  Most likely to be more poodley in appearance, but not necessarily.
