Help! My almost 6 month old GD was neutered yesterday. He has been in a constant state of unrest ever since. He wants to get at the site so badly, it's like he's obsessed. He has an E-collar on, but I think he is itching really badly, because he'll lie down, then jump up, and run in circle, then lie down, try to get at himself to bite or lick, & whimper. He (and I) totally did not sleep at all last night. The vet gave us a pain medication for every 12 hours, but it's not doing anything. And now it's Labor Day weekend & my only option is the pet ER, so I bought some hydrocortisone/aloe vera cream for dogs to put on his tummy & the surrounding area, but he's practically jumping out of his skin if I try to touch it. Has anyone been down this road? I am so worried.

When Halas was neutered, his first e-collar was a little too small. So the edge of it would touch the wound, or Halas could move just right and reach the wound himself. So we went back to the vet and they gave him a bigger collar. With the bigger e-collar, he only tried once, and then gave up because there was no way to reach it.

This is the kind of collar Jack came home from the shelter with...I like it much better than the e-collars, it doesn't take up all that room or block their vision.
Our Pyr was neutered and had problem. I had to take him back to the vet after the first week. My friend suggested that I get Scarlex oil. It is a spray wound dressing. It works. He stop licking and started to get better. I got this at aTracker supply store.
I did not see this post the 1st time around, We a the worst time with Jordan's Spay.
I had her Spayed 23rd of Dec. There was a 2 week break in her training because of the Holidays.
I pick her up, she seems fine.
At about 11pm I noticed she is coughing a bit.I did not think much of it.
At 3:30am I wake up to this horriable sound coming from her. It was a cough, wheeze, thing. I thought Oh my God, she is dying. We take her to the ER vet. She is having an allergic reaction to her internal stitches.
Her throat was swelling closed that is why she was making the "noise".
