Today, Vern went with the dog sitter and Fudge and I went to the Assisted Living Place where I volunteer. There are a couple of ladies there that love Fudge and asked me to bring her to visit. When we are out in our yard, Fudge reacts to every living creature she sees....rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc. and even a falling acorn sends her on quest to find that sound. When I take her to see the residents that live at this facility, it is like I have a different dog than the one that plays outside. She is so wonderful, I can't even put it into words. She was loving, calm, and very well behaved today and even rolled on her back to try and get some belly rubs. I think she almost fell asleep she was so relaxed. She sat for treats, sat for her picture to be taken by several people, offered her paw, and let anyone who wanted to give her a hug, hug her.

Fudge loves our dog sitter, but lately she wants to stay home with me. Vern doesn't even look back as he is loaded in her car. Out of sight, out of mind, as far as Vern is concerned. When I shut the door after Vern left, I turned back to look at Fudge and told her, "It's just you and me, kid," and I swear she was prancing around the room. I know she loves Vern, but doesn't she look like she is smiling a little in these pictures?

Does this look like grief and longing to see Vern, to you?

Lots of employees stopped by too, to give Fudge a hug and take her picture and two people wanted to take her home. One woman stopped in with her young grandson who wanted to see Fudge. The woman put him down right in front of Fudge and Fudge very gently leaned over and gave him a sweet kiss. He, in turn, let out a blood curdling scream that caught us all by surprise, including Fudge.

She cocked her head and looked at me like "what just happened?"

Later, the woman walked by Fudge again and the little boy had recovered and said, "bye, bye doggie!" We stayed a little while longer and came home and played a rousing game of fetch the ball, which is Fudge's favorite thing to do and I gave her a little peanut butter. As far as Fudge is concerned, it doesn't get much better!  I could tell, though, that she was really missing Vern.

Fudge is such a great looking dog.  Such facial expression.  I don't see any grief...at all, and think she likes being alone with her mommy.  Good girl, Fudge.
Thank you, Linda. I think you may be right!

Sounds like the girls had a GREAT day!! Maybe with the exception of the Screamer!! LOL!  Fudge looks SO happy! What a sweet doodle girl!!

And how was the reunion when Fudge and Vern finally got back together?

Ricki, Fudge and I were enjoying our day, minding our own business, and we just had an Earthquake here in southern PA. I had never felt anything like that and Fudge stood straight up and I thought a train was headed straight for my house. We did not appreciate that happening on OUR day :) Vern is still at the sitter's and the phones are out now.
My brother lives outside of Richmond and he was scared out of his house - he's a little freaked out - wussy, we lived in CA and had 7. earthquakes a couple of times - ha ha
ROTF!! Lisa you truly are a woman of great compassion!!

he texted me with "don't worry, I am fine, not that you care" ha ha - he's such a baby.I had no idea what the doodle he was talking about.

I seriously had no idea there was an earthquake but a neighbor of mine emailed me that her chair was moving and a couple of things fell off the shelf and we are 8 hours away.

I called my mom in IN and left her a message saying I knew she was so worried about me and I was fine. Still no call. She is probably playing the Wii.
My mom did leave a message at 7:30 pm....."What Earthquake?"
BG said, "Girls rule and boy drool." LOL The epicenter was in Richmond, VA. We east coast people are not used to this stuff :)
OMD Laurie!!  I just checked the USGS Earthquake monitoring site and there was a large quake in Virginia-5.9. I wonder if that is what you felt? Glad you girls are okay and have each other AND that you didn't lose power too!  It WAS rude to have an earthquake on your special day! :(
Thank you for understanding this day is all about Fudge and me :) Yep...that is the one we felt and now it will be on the news for hours. Thank god, we did not lose power. We lose it in almost every storm and I swear a little squirrel is up there in the power box peddling his little heart out to keep our power on, but this time he kept going even through the shaking :)
