Does anyone have problems with gnats bitting their dogs? We have always had gnats around, but they have never bothered us. This year they are attacking my poor puppy:( Never touch my older dog.

What can we use on her and on our yard? Does anyone know? Thanks!

I'm sure glad you posted this, I don't have an answer but would life to know what others are suggesting. Between the gnats and flies that are on the dogs at the lake, it would be nice to have something we could spray or use to keep them off the girls.

Well, I just looked on Petsmart.com and they have what is called Fly's Off (to spray on the pet to prevent bites), we are going to try that. Hope this works, because my baby is SOoo bit up we have a vet appointment. I still would like to know how to keep them out of the yard.
In Wisconsin where I grew up we had this issue all the time. Buy this stuff called Horse Wipe. I am sure there are other products too. You can go to a feed store to get it, and I am sure Petsmart or Petco.
It works like a charm. We had Horse flies out there and they would munch out Poodles ears like it was candy.
My Yankee recently got bitten by gnats at the lake and scratched terribly for 2 weeks. I tried bathing her in oatmeal, tried benedryl spray and pills, tried ointment and finally had to get her a cortisone shot Friday. She is SO much better. Our vet told me that his clients are experiencing more insect related episodes than he's seen in 10 years! I put stuff on the yard but our problem seems to be compounded by walking on the greenbelt areas where there is no treatment of any sort.
