Today, Vern went with the dog sitter and Fudge and I went to the Assisted Living Place where I volunteer. There are a couple of ladies there that love Fudge and asked me to bring her to visit. When we are out in our yard, Fudge reacts to every living creature she sees....rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc. and even a falling acorn sends her on quest to find that sound. When I take her to see the residents that live at this facility, it is like I have a different dog than the one that plays outside. She is so wonderful, I can't even put it into words. She was loving, calm, and very well behaved today and even rolled on her back to try and get some belly rubs. I think she almost fell asleep she was so relaxed. She sat for treats, sat for her picture to be taken by several people, offered her paw, and let anyone who wanted to give her a hug, hug her.

Fudge loves our dog sitter, but lately she wants to stay home with me. Vern doesn't even look back as he is loaded in her car. Out of sight, out of mind, as far as Vern is concerned. When I shut the door after Vern left, I turned back to look at Fudge and told her, "It's just you and me, kid," and I swear she was prancing around the room. I know she loves Vern, but doesn't she look like she is smiling a little in these pictures?

Does this look like grief and longing to see Vern, to you?

Lots of employees stopped by too, to give Fudge a hug and take her picture and two people wanted to take her home. One woman stopped in with her young grandson who wanted to see Fudge. The woman put him down right in front of Fudge and Fudge very gently leaned over and gave him a sweet kiss. He, in turn, let out a blood curdling scream that caught us all by surprise, including Fudge.

She cocked her head and looked at me like "what just happened?"

Later, the woman walked by Fudge again and the little boy had recovered and said, "bye, bye doggie!" We stayed a little while longer and came home and played a rousing game of fetch the ball, which is Fudge's favorite thing to do and I gave her a little peanut butter. As far as Fudge is concerned, it doesn't get much better!  I could tell, though, that she was really missing Vern.

Thanks, Joyce!
Ha Ha.  Fudge looks like she is having a blast.  Kylie (maltese) literally does the happy dance when Pippin is out of the house and then sulks when he comes home.  Really funny to watch.
Jess, That would make a great video. Luckily, Fudge is happy to see Vern, but she has been prancing around with a ball in her mouth all night.
I grew up with two sisters and a brother...I loved loved loved my alone time with Mommy, those were very rare and special times!  Tell Fudge, "Mel can relate!"
When my daughters were younger, we always tried to do one-on-one time with each. Everybody likes a little me time. Thanks!

Good girl Fudge! Glad to hear that you and mom had a great day.

Isn't it funny how different they act when they are one on one???

Looks like a great time!

Thanks, Jennifer. She is so different by herself...it is very funny!
Maybe Fudge is so good at the Assisted Living place because she doesn't recognize the residents as being too lively--tried to say that as nicely as I could. Loved the photos as always. I'm glad to see we share common weeds.
F, LOL....only you would notice my weeds and we have plenty of them. Funny, the dog's play never seems to kill them, but our poor grass gets blasted every day. You may have hit on something with the residents. They definitely do not move with the same speed as, say a squirrel or rabbit. They do have birds in the lobby, but I position myself in front of them so they don't attract Fudge's attention. We don't want to get kicked out of there.
Oh yes she misses Vern no doubt about it. :)
Bryce, I am not so sure :)

Oh poor Fudge. What a boring day just missing Vern.....

She is such a pretty girl. I am sure she makes many people happy.
