My friends.............I need some help with finding some toys for my Bear. He destroys every toy within a matter of hours, so I really do not like to spend a lot of money on toys. I have 2 toys that are guaranteed to be indestructible.......and when he does destroy it, I am able to take it back to the store and they will give me a new one in place of the other..........I do have to bring what is left of the toy. I think this is great.
Bear LOVES his lamb's wool like toys, but like I said before.........within hours or (if we are lucky) in a couple of days it will be gone. Does anyone have any ideas of toys which would be hard to destroy for Bear? Thanks!!
Also, my doodle started tearing up his stuffed toys and I think he just wanted something to chew on. So I
got him the bone at the link below to chew on. He has had this bone for a couple of weeks now and chews on
it every day. He has hardly even chewed any off of it.
Yes, Halas loves his Nylabones. He chews up his stuffies, too, even when I hand him other stuff to chew on. I guess it's just fun to de-stuff something. There are also lots of toys with treats inside, and I think those help keep the dog busy. They're working on getting the treats out instead of just tearing up the toy.
I have found that most dog toys are extremely poorly made!!! Like you, I have gone through many many toys. Some that have proved to been longer lasting with Lilo & Rocky include:
- Premier "bone" that you can stuff with small treats (see photo below)
- Regular tennis balls, I buy them bulk at Costco - one case lasts 1 year around here. Forget about plastic balls!!
- Double rumble ring from Petlane
- Heavy duty ropes
We also give our dogs bully sticks which they LOVE + they are good for chewing!
I'll be really interested in what other people have found to be long-lasting toys, so thanks for starting this discussion !!
Kali really likes her "good cuz/bad cuz" squeeky toy. She's a fairly light chewer though. Our last dog really loved it too, she was a really strong chewer and this toy held up amazingly well for her. Mocha managed to break the squeaker in about a day (which was just as well because it made a really loud squeaker) but she still loved it, without the squeaker it made a kind of "whoosh" air sound. She took it everywhere with her (much like Kali does) and neither dog manage to break the toy itself. Here's a link to some of their products. http://www.petvetsupply.com/tobynadogto.html

Have you tried the black colored ones? Those are specifically made for big time chewers. Kong ranks their toys by color of how good they are for dogs that really chew. The red kongs are made for normal dogs that don't chew that hard. It is called the extreme Kong. check the website out.
We are heading out this weekend to pick up a few. I also checked out Planet Dog website - I know that Samantha can not even scratch their fetch' or tennis balls'. Not cheap but if they can't be destroyed, worth every penny.
I did find a website where they a little discounted and as soon as I figure out which one I ordered from I will post it.
Thanks!
