We had torrential rain all night and now it's merely raining. The electricity just wavered but remained on. No trees down although I heard things hitting the roof. The basement has a couple of inches of water. They say the rivers will crest and flood in the coming days. The reverse 911 warned us to stay off town roads which are flooded. It could have been much worse here and I hope everyone fared as well.

My biggest fear was getting the dogs out but Luca decided that about 5:30 pm last night was enough til 10:30 today. Then he was carrying on around the shed where the woodchucks live. Could they have climbed up inside or on the vines? I'm sure the burrow is flooded and he was barking towards the roof of the shed. I had to "lasso" him and bring him in. I was afraid he could get into the brook if the fence was weakened.

The brook behind my house is a raging torrent with white water. In places the yard slants, thankfully, toward the brook and I felt water running through my crocs. Let us know how you are when you can.

Ricki, Once again, great minds think alike. I wrote the same comment this morning and then scrolled down and saw you wrote it 7 hours ago. Lauricki lives on.........

Thanks for starting my day with a laugh. Next time, wear the Intercourse shirt.
ROFL!!!

I Love that story Joanne!! Lol...

You really did deserve the tickets!

So glad your power is on...and the hurricane is over.

I hope that you and everyone on DK is safe...and recovering from the hurricane!

Hugs to everyone...

Glad to see everyone is staying safe and sound even if you don't have power.  FEMA paid for a whole bunch of generators for people in FL after the Summer with the 4 hurricanes.  We were very fortunate and the longest that we lost power was for only less than 24 hours so it wasn't too bad.  Some people were out for close to a month or more so we didn't have anything to complain about.  Will be waiting for Jane to check in this morning.

I forgot about that. We did get our generator paid for after Charlie. We also had 2 FEMA trucks on the island and they were loaded with free ice and bottled water. I would take our cooler every morning and load up on ice and water.

I hope everyone is safe and will be checking off and on today.

We're fine this morning, and I want to thank all our DK friends for your concern.  The rain and wind are over, but our main road is still badly flooded....so still no way in or out of here.  The river is still cresting and will until mid day.  They have closed down our road and several other roads leading to it.  The prediction is that it will be another day or two before it would be passable.   That's okay, I have food for another couple of days.  The water is no longer coming into our basement...YAY!  We have a big stain on our bedroom ceiling from when the wind blew the rain into our attic through the vents, so we'll have to get that repaired.  Other than that we're in good shape.  I'm so glad we didn't leave.  All our neighbors who evacuated can't get back in here....that would stink.  We all had a quiet night after saying "Goodnight to Irene", and it was so much better to have my "nervous Murph" in his own home.  It was nice to see that all of our neighbors with pets made the same decision...nobody was leaving their "furkids".  Hopefully today I get get the boys out for some good exercise...they were cooped up all weekend.  Thanks again everyone.  Hope you are all doing well and those without power are staying safe.
Glad to hear you are all safe and sound and hopefully the boys will get out for their walk today!
Jane, I am so glad to see you posted. I got up this morning and got right on DK to check on you!
