Atopic Dermatitis: (not a fun discussion)

Is there anyone here who has a dog who has been diagnosed with atopy, or atopic dermatitis? If so, I would be interested in discussing treatment options such as Atopica, intradermal testing, injections, etc.
My adopted labradoodle has it, and I have not been able to find many people who can share their experiences with me. The decisions are scary and life-changing. With the number of doodle owners here, I am hoping I can find someone who is also going thru this (not that I would wish it on anyone) and perhaps get some sound guidance, or least a little commiseration, lol.

Hi Karen:

I know this discussion was started in August, but I'm curious to find out about whether or not you started Atopica? If yes, what have you found? If not, have you tried other alternative/holistic treatments? Have you consulted a holistic vet?

My rehome Labradoodle Winston has been diagnosed with erythema multiforme (EM)via skin biopsy and after numerous failed attempts at other treatments. It is unclear at this time if this is the primary lesion or development from atopy, drugs, vasculitis, other etc. He has been ruled out for auto immune disorder via lab and biopsy, referred to dermatologist. Like you, hate the idea of starting Atopica, cyclosporines, or prednisone tapers because of side effect profile. I have an appt with the vet dermatologist tues, have an idea of what she's going to say. Awaiting an appt with a holistic vet. Winston is currently on Barf diet and is taking supplements: fish oil, chlrotrimeton, antioxidants (nanogreens), colostrum (nanopro: bolsters immunity), digestive enzymes, and probiotics. Since he's been off the meds (keflex: main culprit of EM), off the medicated shampoos, medicated foot sprays) he's gotten better. Don't know if the atopy could be related to Vaccinosis (rabies vaccine and overvaccination) or because given vaccine while pet was ill? Was yours? Would love to chat and know what you decided to do or have done?
