I'd like to get Winston a nice new dog bed. Something that will last a long time but with a cover I can remove and wash. there are so many different kinds and they can be quite pricey so I want to be sure to get the right kind.
Any suggestions of what kind to get? What are some good online spots for dog bed shopping?

Bandit is usually in bed with me or next to Rosey, otherwise he still likes his crate with just a standard pillow in it. Rosey has a bed from PetEdge which you can throw the whole thing in the wash.
I have thought of getting a cushy bed but considering they seem to sleep on the floor and get hot easily it might be a waste.
Hi Karen! Long time no chitty chat:) here is the link to the one I got for Rosey http://www.petedge.com/product/Beds-Furniture/Dog-Beds/Bolster-Beds...
It has held up really well with two doodles, washings, sleeping, eating, playing etc... I think I paid $40...
Just looked at the bed, and plush fabric won't work. :(
I have the heaviest shedder in the history of the world; the hairs embed in plushy fabrics, fleece, etc. He needs something like heavy cotton duck or denim.
My Haus was a 120 pound German Shepherd who had 2 back surgeries during his life, so top quality, durable, comfortable beds for him were hugely important to me.
In 12 years we went thru a lot of beds, but the best beds I think I found on amazon.com b/c you have such a variety of selection this way.
His last bed lasted for years, and it was huge, and had a removable cover - one side was cream fleece (like lamb's wool, but not), the other side was sort of a canvas. It washed very nicely. The inside of this bed was memory foam and egg carton foam (forgot what that is called!). I spent at least $120 on this bed but it was SO worth it!!!
