Thoughts on Microchipping...?
Is your dog microchipped?
My little guy is due to get microchipped this week, and even though I think microchipping is in general a great idea, I'm just a touch nervous b/c I have read some articles that suggest sarcomas are possible at the microchip site...certainly not the norm by any stretch, but...?
What are your thoughts and experiences with this?

Daisy is micro chipped, it was done when she was being spayed....no problems and I have peace of mind.

I absolutely think microchipping is a good idea. My two dogs ran away one time on the 4th of July because the neighbor was setting off fireworks. They broke down the garage door and ran down the hill and across the highway. I searched all night for them and could not find them. The next afternoon a boy called who lived two miles away and said he found two dirty dogs who were hungry and one had a collar with my telephone number. Neither of the dogs were microchipped and one of them had lost his collar. I went to get them immediately and they were a mess from the creekbed they had gone through. Luckily, one had his collar. Both of the dogs got microchipped after that and I have purchased my other dogs from breeders that do microchipping when the dogs are puppies. I feel safer with them microchipped.

Wow Lynda, that story is scary enough to only happen one time! I am so glad that your babies got back to you safe and sound!
My breeder microchips when they are puppies (just over 4 weeks). I just read articles that made me nervous. I am such a Crazy Dog Lady! Argh.

Jack was chipped by the shelter before I adopted him. No problems whatsoever, and he's had the chip for almost 6 years. I'm very glad he has it, and I wouldn't hesitate to chip the next dog if I have the choice.
