Great question! Our Murphy, 7 months, sometimes goes after the hair on her tail. She will also chew on her own legs. This usually happens when she is in a very energetic state and I just try to redirect her to a chew toy, which usually works. I'll be interested to see what others say.
Quincy has been grooming his own ear, only one side since, he was a puppy. I think it is the side he sleeps on most of the time and it just happens to reach nicely into his mouth.
He chewed all the hair he could reach OFF the ear !! Now I have to cut the other one to match I don't know how to prevent this. No matter what I do, he is full of energy. Maybe I should switch his food ? He is on Arcana
Some dogs just like to chew on their ear hair, but it is likely that he got food stuck in his ears and he went back to snack on it later. Make sure that his ears are clean after he eats. You can also spray bitter apple on his ears to keep him from chewing on them.
