Lily has a tick head without body stuck in her neck!

I felt a bump or what I thought was a wart then I looked at it and it had legs. I made DH suit up in his gloves and I put alcohol on the tick. DH used a tweezers to pull it out but did not get low enough since there was no head when he looked at it. The head is still stuck in her skin. I feel like I could puke.

You probably want to call your vet--I think that the head needs to get out of there.

Take her to the vet to get the head out. It can get infected.

Next time you see a tick already burrowed in there try lighting a match stick, blowing it out after a couple of seconds and then holding it to the body of the tick. That normally works to get the head and the body out.

(This summer was horrible for us this year. It was a really wet spring. I took Maggie up to the family ranch and we ended up getting - i kid you not - 35!!!!! ticks off of her, \ 5 off of me and 6 off of my boyfriend. It took us about a week to find all of the ticks on Maggie (we did a nightly tick check on her).

The matchstick method will work, but please don't use this method in a part of the country where Lymes disease is present.

The heat from the matchstick will make the tick go in to defensive mode and there is a greater likelyhood that it will spit the Lymes disease bacteria out before it lets go. Best bet is a stealth move with tweezers if possible so that the tick doesn't know what hit him.

You probably need the vet to get the head out though.
