Hey all,

Ollie got his 12 week shots yesterday. He was super tired right after, but ate just fine. He slept most of the day. He hasn't eaten this morning yet and just threw up a little (it was only mucus...sorry if this is gross). Should I call the emergency care vet or just wait and see if he is okay?

That's great news Rachel! So glad he is back home with his mommy! Hope you both have a great night!
Oh, I'm so glad to hear he's feeling better! Whew! Was just thinking about you guys here when I saw your message appear. Did the vet have any thoughts on what was going on with the little guy?
Rachel, I am so glad he is home with you. How nice of Doris to go with you!
I did exactly what you would have done if you lived by Rachel!  She's such a sweet young lady! Just had to help her thru this rough patch of puppyhood!
Rachel, so glad things are starting to look. We will be sending pawsitive vibes your way all through the night. hang in there, you are doing great!!
Wonderful news! It's so much better to have him home with you. And how sweet of Doris to go with you--that gives me the warm fuzzies.
Thanks everyone, I just hope he is well now. I am still so scared.

Besides a couple potty breaks, we did really well last night. Ollie is excited about stuff again and is trying to bite my hand again (I never thought I would be happy about that). We went to our regular vet and he did not have a fever and we are marking it up as a reaction to vaccines. He was still really tired this morning, and I am back to work this afternoon. It was hard to leave him, but he practically ran to his crate when he saw the kong.

My sister's chihuahua has this reaction to vaccines - he has to get a special shot to counteract this reaction.  Be sure to ask your vet about how to prevent this in the future.  It's not worth it!

My chihuahua Taquito used to be awful after shots - not himself. He didn't throw up but he sulked around, didn't eat for 24 hours, etc...NOW he has kidney disease so we do titers instead of automatically giving him shots each year. For the past two years, titers (bloodwork) came back showing he was still immunue to two diseases they usually just automatically vaccinate for annually. Since going this route, little guy is much happier. Something to consider in the future (not now while Ollie is puppy and needs all of these shots for parvo, etc...)

Ya, my vet said that he will probably need to take benedryl before his next shots...I think they will give him a shot of that before hand or something. I am hoping that is all it is and from now on he will be fine!
Great news, Rachel. How's his appetite?
Hey yeah it is great news. He is still pretty sleepy...which means cuddly...:) I am thinking it is just him catching up on sleep and since he is on an antibiotic, it may make him tired some. His appetite is good. He ate well this morning and is eating pretty good tonight. I am trying not to overdue it in case his tummy is still a little upset.
