Please help - Ollie has a weird rash.  It looks like brown splotches and seems to be getting worse :(  Should I be worried?  Should I take him to the vet?  He's acting normally, although he seems to lick the area a lot - just not sure if it's more than usual - he always licks that area a lot.

Has anyone else had these problems?  It got worse very suddenly - just in the past couple of days.  I think he may have picked it up at the vet, which is the most ironic part of all :(  This feels so unfair!

Good.  If it came off then it is not bruising.  Perhaps then an allergic reaction to something.  Have you considered shaving the loin area?  This would keep it drier if it is a yeast infection.
Hmmm - that's a really good idea.  I'll try shaving the loin area tonight to help it stay dryer.  Thanks for the idea.
These spots look much more like blood related spots than the ones presented above.
These look like something Clancy gets which starts out as an allergic reaction and if left untreated, an infection.  When we catch it early we use Animax ointment on the area, if it gets a bit out of hand, Clancy gets an oral antibiotic also.
Not sure how old Ollie is, but I'm thinking he is still a puppy and the spots are on his belly, inside of thighs? If so, I would say "Puppy Pyoderma"/also called "Puppy Acne". A very common condition that causes red spots, some filled with pus like acne. Puppies get it from the hormones around 4-6 months. Lily had it and it has come, gone and come back again, just like the vet said it might. There were a couple of threads on here about it a few months back. Most cases clear up on their own, some need antibiotics.

Thank you - I will keep an eye on it.  It might be acne, but the spots are very brown.  I'll take photos over the next few days and show you guys the progress.  I spoke with the vet and they said to wait for a few days to see what happens.  Thanks everyone for your input - really appreciate it! =)

I just wanted to let everyone know that Ollie's rash has completely cleared up.  The pet store recommended a product called "Vetericyn" and it worked miracles.  That and shaving the area and keeping it clean and dry.  Glad to have dodged another full round of antibiotics.  Ollie is doing awesome.  Still not sure what the cause was, but Ollie's playmate got something similar and their vet said it was flea poop.  Ollie had no sign of fleas, but it's possible it was that.
