Chasing Leaves

[KAHLUA]

As you all know both Kahlua and Paxton are inside dogs, other than going out to do their business, when outside they are on leashes.  EVERY fall when the leaves start falling Kahula goes nuts.  She assumes the "position" under our very large oak tree and attacks and I mean pounches on each leaf that falls from the tree.  This is the first real fall for Paxton and at first he just watched and looked at us as if to say, what is wrong with her?  It's pretty funny to watch her from the kitchen window because you can tell this is not a game to her.  In the evenings she will bark at the leaves when they are falling as they pass through the light from the street lamp.  So the last couple of days have been beautiful.  DH let them out at lunch time and ever vigilant Kahlua does not want to come in and of course Paxton will not come in if Kahlua is outside.  So he takes their water and food bowls outside and leaves them outside.  He comes home after work and both are wore out, they are sooooooo tired, even the word walk doesn't get a rise out of either of them.   I guess leaf chasing is hard work.   The next day same, thing, except the daughter now notices that Paxton has joined forces with Kahlua and have decided that they are the daring duo who will protect our family and home from the dreadful leaves.  My daughter said she laughed so hard because they "look" so serious about thier "job".  Yesterday rained and they stayed in, but looked relieved that they had a day off the job!

Hahaha this is a great story!  My pup loves to chase leaves too, and if we had a yard I'm sure she would make it her job to protect us!

OOHH! I wish we had a tree in our back yard! Our chase leaves too, when the wind blow the doodle goes!

We only have leaves in the front and on our walks. Chloe will focus in on one out of a bunch (in leash) and put her paws straight out like a cat and try to grab it when we start walking. We can stop and talk to a neighbor, she will pick one out and stare it down the entire time and when we are ready to leave, she will pounce on it! hilarious and slighty weird.

Another DOODLE "thing".  It is so funny to watch because she is so serious about the whole thing.  When she catches us laughing in the window, she will literally look at us as if to say, "Laugh now, you'll thank me later......." and then POUNCE on a leaf just for good measure!!!!

OMD What a cute story! If only I could figure out such a great job for my boys... one that keeps them vigilent and does not include my constant participation. Way to go Kahlua and Paxton.

I could not believe how tired they both are after being outside all day long.  Of course the nex day it rained and both went out did their business and could not wait to come back in.  I felt like saying....."uh there are still leaves out there to conquer", but the she would probably have said to me, "I don't like getting my hair wet.....".

Awww.  That sounds so cute, but I wonder if you could train them to rake the leaves up too?  :)
