Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi Everyone, We are ready to add a new addition to our family and after extensive research the Labradoodle is the perfect fit for our family. I am super excited to get one!! After reading and reading, it is always stated to buy from a "reputable breeder", since I am not skilled in how to judge a reputable breeder I thought it was best to get one reccomended to me. We are a family of 2 boys ages 2 and 5, myself, husband, and my father. A breeder who raises the puppies with kids around I think is a good idea but not certain if it is a requirement. I am willing to drive anywhere in FL. (we live in Pembroke Pines) to pick out our new buddy. Another issue is money... I have discovered the Austrailian seems to be priced more which is out of our price range (I understand why it is more money though) . So I started thinking of the American, a F2 gen or higher since they seem to be less money. I hate to make it about the money but my husband is insisting I not spend more than he quoted me. If anyone has a labradoodle that meets my description and you'd reccomend your breeder then please do :)

Hi Karen, I live in Hollywood. I have 2 Doodles. My oldest is Dexter. He turned 8 last month and is an F1. Dexer weighs 101 pounds. My younger one is Frank and he is a re-home via IDOG. Frank is a Medium Australian Multi Gen from Australia and weighs 26 pounds. He will be 6 in January. Go to IDOG.biz and click on the programs and services link and go to the Cupid page. Both of these breeders are great and their dogs are reasonable.

Dexter came from 441 Puppies in Hollywood in 2003. We are very lucky he is a healthy boy. We were looking at the puppies and fell in love with Dexter.

Good luck on your search. Hopefully you will find a Doodle. They are wonderful dogs.

Great to find a local person! I checked out the sites you reccomended, thank you. The IDog looks promising but they are working on the site right now so I was unable to look further but I will recheck in a couple of days. Your dogs are beautiful !! Thank you again for the reccomendations :) Maybe we"ll meet at a Doodle romp someday!

Here is our info on finding a reputable breeder: http://www.doodlekisses.com/notes/What_To_Look_for_In_a_Breeder -- in this article you'll also get a list of places to look to help you start your search including our Owner Recommended Breeders List. IDOG is one good rescue organization.  The other good one is DoodleRescueInc.com -- we got our rescue through them and there are active members of that rescue group here on Doodle Kisses.  I would put in applications with BOTH organizations if you are interested in giving a home to a dog that needs one.

Remember, that members are not permitted to make breeder recommendations publicly on DK except in the Owner Recommended Breeders group.  You MAY, however, send private messages with your personal recommendations.

Hi, I'm sorry I did not realize until you pointed out that members could not publicly reccomend a breeder. I was too excited to get started on my quest to read the rules, LOL :) But I totally understand why you have this rule. I did read your link to the breeders group and it has helped alot. This is so important to me to get a good dog, especially for the safety of my children. Thank you for directing me, looking forward to our new venture :)
