We are looking into getting a mini Doodle from Almond Blossom. We are #9 in the pick order. The mother is expected to deliver between 10-11 puppies. If anyone has gotten a puppy from a large litter, does it make a difference that you would only have 2-3 puppies to choose from? Do they do any kind of evaluation of their personalities, etc? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Would like to hear all about your experience with Almond Blossom.
Hi Carla,
We had such a great experience with Almond Blossom picking out our puppy! Shelly was very helpful and very nice. My husband and I think they took great care of the puppies. We picked out a boy, there were 5, and we named him Cooper. We didn't crate him on the way home, he sat between our girls on a blanket and he slept. We stopped by my husband's Mom's house in Livermore and played with him. He got in the car and went back to sleep again. We took him right out in the backyard at home and he went the bathroom. We are watching him like a hawk. He seems to be looking for his littermates which is a little sad. The girls have been playing with him like crazy and he just crashed! I am hoping tonight goes well. I like that Shelly has been putting the puppies in their own crate for the last week. We never crate trained with our other dogs so this will be an experience. What time do you pick up your puppy? Let me know how it goes! They are all so incredibly cute! It was so hard to choose. Shelly had the puppy assessment which helped because at least it's a starting point. Sorry this got so long. Good luck tomorrow!
Cooper. what a great name. We have a list of names but truly won't know until we see him. I am so glad to hear it went well. We have our appt at 2pm. I have been so nervous my husband says i'm driving him crazy. We "puppy-proofed" the back yard today. Were all the boys cute? I am also glad she has been crate training them. We tried it with our other dog but it didn't work. I was a wimp!! We are definitely doing it this time around. At least until he is older and gets the run of the house. I'll be in touch.
Yes, all the boys were cute! Cooper slept from 9-12:15 and we let him out. He cried in his crate for another hour. I let him out and he cried again but fell asleep until 5:30. He's only taken 2 fifteen minute naps. The real test of crating comes here in the next hour, we need to be gone for 3 hours, yikes. Have fun today!
