If you do a search you will find lots of information on Pet Insurance. Good luck!!

Use the search box on the main forum page and type in 'insurance' and you'll get a TON.

Hi - I have had VPI since I brought Jennings home at 9 weeks (he is 3.5 years now) and have been very happy with it (just submitted a claim yesterday, actually!).  They have a few different levels of plans, and I have mine billed directly each month to a credit card.  They pay very quickly, and having watched one of my friends suffer through a series of tests and then surgery (and then having to have her dog put to sleep) this past summer, I am grateful for the insurance.  She had over $5,000 in bills in just a few months, and I would never want to ask FIRST how much something costs when it comes to needing something for the pup!  :)  Whatever plan you get, hope it works out for you.  Woof!!!

We are with VPI.  Three months ago Lexi was diagnosed with Addissons disease. Our vet charges are in excess of $4000.00 They have re-imbursed close to 80% for most charges and in some cases 99%.  My last submittal was for $225.00 and in less then ten days they sent a check for $220.00. The major medical plan has been a life saver and I would not be with out it. We have a second policy for Billy and he seems prone to hot spots. We submitted  almost $2000.00 for him last year and after the deductable we felt the coverage was pretty good as well.

I actually have the Banfield Pet Insurance.......I am not fond of the Petsmart as groomers, but LOVE the vets!!!!  They are so good with Bear and he is so spoiled when he goes :)

I pay $34.95 a month and this includes 2 Comprehensive Exams a year along with teeth cleaning twice a year.  It includes all of his boosters, but I have them give him Benedryl before the boosters because I had a really bad experience with one of my other dogs going into anaphylactic shock.  So I have been precautious with Bear.  With the Benedryl I only pay around $12

This isn't let insurance. You aren't covered if there is any major illness

I would recommend comparing different plans to see which has the best price, coverage, etc.  I went with Pet Plan for my baby girl after comparing different plans on Pet Insurer.  There are several different pet insurance companies now with tons of different coverage options.  Hope this helps and good luck!

We have Healthy Paws and I cannot say enough good things about it. Our pup had to have surgery for testicular torsion a few weeks after we brought him home. We had put him on the insurance the second he walked in our door, but I was still sure they would deny the claim because they don't cover neuter and the surgery included neutering him (because the twisted testicle was undescended and in his belly) or for some other reason. But nope. They reimbursed exactly as they said they would -- 80%, excluding the office visit. It was a close to $6K surgery and without insurance would have been a *disaster*. We have already used it for conjunctivitis as well (our poor pup seems to always be at the vets!) and also reimbursed.

One thing I would look into is the insurer's rate structure over the years. We were very happy with PetPlan until Cocoa turned seven. The rates then skyrocketed, the deductible increased, and they changed from paying 80% to 70%. By now Cocoa has a preexisting condition and we were unable to change. We regret choosing PetPlan now.
