Dakota eats TOTW lamb and we add chicken or turkey with brown rice and veggies. Every morning I add a powdered Glucosamine Chondroitin with MSM and 1200mg fish oil (685 mg Omega 3). Recently, I doubled the fish oil. I don't exactly know the timimg but Dakota has started going on exhuberant full speed runs through the house (he does this a couple of times a week) and he initiates play with me the way he did when he was a pup. We got up to our lake house yesterday and this morning Dakota was doing full-out runs back and forth across a 500 yard field! It is such fun to watch him feeling so good and having so much fun! I worry because his "Daddy" gives him unhealthy treats (mostly what "Daddy" eats himself) so I try to limit that -- I try for both of them but that's another story . . . Could kicking up the Omega 3 cause that kind of an energy surge?

Well, fish oil is very good for their hearts, their skin & coats, and their immune systems, and has anti-inflammatory properties, so I guess it's possible. At any rate, it's wonderful to hear that Dakota is feeling so young and energetic! Makes me smile just hearing about it.

I don't know about the energy from Omega 3 but I started taking 1400mg fish oil sometime at the beginning of this year.  I have glaucoma and with medication the pressure was almost to the point that the eye doctor was going to have to find another medication that would work for me.  After about 4 months of taking the fish oil my pressure is back to the mid teens and has stayed that way for two visits 4 months apart  The fish oil is the only change I have had in diet or supplements/vitamins.  (My glaucoma medicine has been the same for three years.)

thats interesting re. the fish oil and glaucoma. I'm an eye doc but I'm open to alternative therapy. I guess there's no harm taking fish oils but just so you know, glaucoma meds sometimes lose their efficacy after a few years. All the best in the new year for your health and your doodles.hopefully your IOPs maintain those optimal levels! ;o)

haha I am looking at my Maggie while reading this....;o) she tears around the tennis court in my neighbourhood like a mad headless chicken at times and its really funny. Its like a furry mop on legs!

seems like your Dakota is having those mad moments too! Maybe I should start my pup on fish oils!
