UPDATE- SOPHIE IS GETTING HER SURGERY! AND YOU HELPED DO THIS! THANK YOU ALL!

HOMELESS GD NEEDS OUR HELP!!!!
This beautiful curly 2-yr-old girl is desperately in need of costly cataract surgery to restore her eyesight! She was surrendered to a humane society shelter by her owner, who was unable to care for her. The Humane Society would not adopt her out due to increasing blindness because of operable cataracts, and would not pay for the surgery to restore her sight; Second Chance Animal Rescue pulled her from the kill shelter and is trying to raise money for the surgery. Please take a look- we can give her 14 years of being able to see this wonderful world around her! Any donation in any amount will help; even $5. Thank for looking. (photos also below)

Thank you so much Adrianne- any amount at all will help. If you click the link, all the information is there in the body of the listing- the mailing address for sending checks, ( & how to designate the funds for her surgery) and the Paypal info.
Thank you so much for your kind heart.
I sent a little in today. Every little bit is going to help. I know blind dogs can live very long, happy lives, but if her vision CAN be restored, it would be a shame to not be able to do it.
And thank YOU for your very kind heart, too!
I sent you the pics to your email for the post...

Here's the info w/o clicking the link:
Sophie is a 2 yr old golden-doodle (a cross between a golden retriever and a standard poodle). She's not on our website because she's ready for adoption - quite the opposite - we first have to restore her eyesight. Sophie has congenital cataracts in both eyes that severely limit her vision, and we want to have the eyes surgically repaired. She's a young girl with a long life expectancy, and we want her to be able to SEE again. Now she runs into the fence when she plays, and although she desperately tries to find a ball that is thrown for her, she can't. Eventually she would adapt to her surroundings as a blind dog would, but the veterinary opthamologist said that with surgical removal of both cataracts, her vision would be restored to 94% of normal. This is what we want for her but the surgery is expensive. To have both eyes done would cost $2200-$2300, and that is a lot of money for any rescue group. Sophie was originally surrendered to a humane society, but they wouldn't adopt her out because of her eye condition, and they wouldn't finance her surgery. We found a foster family to take her in and care for her through the eye surgery. Now comes the task of raising the money to pay for it. In today's economy, money is tight, but if you could make any donation to Sophie's cause, it would be greatly appreciated. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit so any donation is tax deductible. You can donate via PayPal or check. If by PayPal, go to our website (www.secondchancerescue.org) and click on "contributions". If by mail, our mailing address is:

Thank you for caring!
As Leslie pointed out, blind dogs can adjust very well and live long, happy lives- but this one has no home, and she is going to have a harder time getting adopted because of it. The first shelter that had her refused to even try to adopt her out with her condition, and wouldn't pay for her surgery either. We can imagine what the only other option would have been. This rescue saved her from THAT, and now is willing to see her through the surgery & recovery. She's finally getting some breaks...let's hope her luck holds. Thanks for reading.
you know...I could very easily go off on a rant about the HSUS and some of their practices....but then your discussion would be C-L-O-S-E-D!....lol
Okay, if you do it one post at a time- that will keep bumping it up in the forum, LOL!
I CAN"T BELIEVE ( I take that back...I DO BELIEVE!) that the Humane Society would opt to destroy this dog instead of shelling out some bucks for what is basically a simple operation to restore her sight!!.....Do you have any idea how much money is filtered through that organization??!!!??? It's appalling....... really.....
