Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Our breeder mentioned on her website how doodles are known for having sensitive tummies and therefore we should never give them treats.... to use a bit or two of their regular kibble. She does say we can give him a little piece of cheese a couple of times a day. I'm just finding it odd that it's not ok to give them ANY treats/biscuits no matter what brand or what's in them but it's ok to give them American cheese?? I've noticed while perusing the past discussions that most people here to give treats from reputable companies. Just wanted to get some opinions on what our breeder said. There's a great natural dog food store that just opened right on my way home and they carry all of the organic, high quality dog foods and treats. I was thinking of stopping in. We ordered our Acana from a website but I'm excited to have a store right in town now! Thanks!

Bridget lives for treats! We are buying American made. Too many bad things "made in China." Bridget's current favorites. Pork femur bone, Dentley Toobles(beef trachea), nylabone puppy bone with calcium and other vitamins .and Reward treats(Natural beef and brown rice by Pet Botanics.Oh, recently she has tried pig ears. She loves it all! Has not had any stomach or poop issues. I use in them in moderation. She is on TOTW food. I top her food sometimes with peas, green beans, lima beans or 100 percent pure pumpkin. She loves it all! Growing very well and full of energy. I think you have to see what works for Charlie. Start small and slow. Could you imagine as humans, never having treats? I can't. Good luck Kate :)
That is baloney. Of course your dog can eat something BESIDES his kibble. Some doodles have sensitive tummies, and of course you don't want a bunch of food changes for a new pup, but beyond that, every doodle is different and there is no such a black/white rule in doodledom.
I give both my doodles chicken strips from Trader Joe's and Zukes. They also get a bit or two of my food, when appropriate as a topper. As long as they don't get large amounts of things like biscuits they are fine.
