First snow of the season, and Max LOVES the snow! He will romp endlessly in it-but he gets snowballs, large and small, attached to his beard and legs...
Pulling them is not an option (ouch) I have tried the hair dryer-without much success. They eventually drop off (all over the house) and leave a multitude of puddles in a variety of places. I am having him groomed tomorrow, and he will get his usual 'puppy cut'-I am sure that will help somewhat...
Any advice?

This may sound crazy, but what works best for me is to squeeze them with my hands- the heat from your hands melts them pretty quick, and at the same time you can very gently pull- kind of like gently "wringing them out".
PS- A good brisk all-over towelling before squeezing helps, too.
OMG!!!! That totally looks like Bear when he comes in from the snow :) If you do not mind me asking, where do you live? I hate to say this, I just let Bear eat the snow balls off of his legs.........as for his face, he licks then off.
We do the same with Casey - he snacks on them!
I have NO idea, we are dealing this ourselves, but just wanted to say I LOVE the pic:)
We also had our first snow. Tucker gets little balls underneath his feet and I was wondering what to do about them. So far I'm just letting them melt all over the house.

He looks so cute with his "Santa" beard!
What has worked well for us (the 3-5 days/year we get decent snow) is a quickie trip under the shower, followed by a nice warm blow dry ;)
Oh I hear ya!! The snow and I have NOT been friends lately!! I actually bought some doggie boots this weekend - I'm hoping they help!!
I have not tried that with Bear, but did try it with my poodles in the past and I just let them run around the house. But then I would be right behind them as the snow melted with a towel wiping it up :)
I also bought doggie boots this past weekend, and they make a huge difference when it comes to the snowballs between toes, but as for the belly, bum, and beard, it's drip dry baby!
(before the boots, I would get a bowl or bucket with some warm water for his feet, dip them in, and the snow balls melt right off!)
I use the dog booties and they work really good.
They tend to fall off about 45 minutes of running at the dog park.
