How to recrate a dog that is no longer crate trained

Does anyone have experience re crate training. Jack needs to go back in his crate at night since he won't stop going potty on the carpet. He is peeing over a spot that I can't seem to get the scent out of no matter what.

I really need to get hard wood floor put down for my lungs sake but I can't do that yet. He has not slept in a crate in almost two years. I hate to do it but I don't know any other options.

How do I start?

Jennifer...I had a friend whose dog had marked a spot in their bedroom..they ended up cutting the square of carpet out and replacing it with a piece cut from their closet. That might work til you get hardwoods?!

Thanks for asking, thing are never easy when it comes to me, and apparently Jack takes after me. Jack did well in the crate until 3 am then he cried, I let him out and he went potty, and we both climbed back into my bed.

This morning I took Jack to be groomed and I pointed out to the groomer that Jack had some spots on him, in his groin and I think it was because he had some small matts that pinched his skin that I cut out a few days ago. I just don't have a magic wand and I can't find my super women cape so unfortunately some things have just fallen by the wayside the past few months, (while it is understandable it doesn't make me wish I had a magic wand) So the groomer didn't think anything of the spots, Jack got groomed and when I picked him up, I decided I would just ask the vet to eye ball the spots, thinking they were going to think it was nothing. WRONG.. Jack has a staph infection.. I seriously could not believe it.. The vet suggested that he licked himself raw from an allergy but I don't think so, these are exactly where the little matts were. I am usually so good about "dogscaping" Jack and keeping his sanitary area shaved but I couldn't.. Soon as I noticed the matts I cut them, but apparently it bothered him enough for him to lick them raw and get a staph infection

Two weeks of antibiotics for him... They did test his urine and it was okay. We have a simple solutions wrap on him which looks like a speedo without the crouch. That is to keep him from licking it, but it's real purpose is for dogs who are incontinent or are leg lifters, if they pee it goes in there. Jack will never pee on himself ever.. so I think this may be a solution for now he has to wear it not to lick himself, but we will see if he tolerates it then I can put that on him at night to get him used to sleeping through the night without going potty..

The scary part is though Staph is not a worry to normal people, it is for the not so normal immune compromised people, but since I am already on a million antibiotics I should be covered...

If anyone finds a super women cape or a magic wand can I borrow it for one minute please and I will give it back?? Thanks

PERFECT!!!! Now do you think if I print it and scotch tape it to my back it will work???? These days the way I gauge my day is if I don't have a breathing tube coming out of my throat and no one I love is in dire distress, It is a good day...

This is all very minor stuff and in light of how sick so many of our beloved doodles are, I feel foolish posting about a skin staph infection with Jack,

Bruce Girl you are incredibly kind and sweet to me, you always make me smile, you always encourage me and you have no idea how much it means....

Now I am going to try on my cape and if it works I am going to fly around and don't be surprised if I don't stop by your house to hug you!!!!!

We are well and all can be worked out,

LOL, I have never heard anyone on this planet other then my mom use the term, "keep my eyes peeled" That saying always cracks me up.. When we were little, we would tease my mom when she said it..

Wait, I just remembered something which may be to much information but since when has they ever stopped me??? When I was little I had Wonder Women underoos.. If you even know what underroos are?? if not I am showing my age.. I wonder if they still sell them, maybe they would work???
