I wanted to let all of you know I think I messed up big time! I have heard that the goldnedoodle is a water lover. Well, second day at our home Molly fell into our pool...screamed like crazy. I pulled her out and thought to myself maybe she won't like water as much as I anticipated. We also live on a lake and I was hoping for a water lover. Well, I was taking my shower and she ventured closer and closer...I coaxed her a little and all of a sudden she decided it was ok. NOW she has decided that standing under the shower is the best ever. I have tried to keep her out since we have an open shower stall but to no avail...she now darts in and out daring me to catch her...which is quite inconvenient as you can surmise. She hears the shower start and bamm she is there. SHE LOVES the WATER...particularly the shower. So, for those of you that I have read about that struggle with doodle baths...try the shower...AND keep extra towels handy. Have a great evening. I will be honest with you...I have never owned a puppy that was so smart. I came home from the grocery store and my husband with one treat taught her to speak. She amazes us each and every day. In 4 weeks Molly only had one accident in the house. Lizette from Conroe, TX
LOL wow...that is hilarious...but i can definitely see how annoying this could be as ewll...the only think i can think of is install a puppy gate in the doorway to the shower?
Doesn't look like she was traumatized at all by the accidental dip in the pool!
As far as the shower time silliness...if it really gets to be annoying I would crate her while you are in the shower if nobody is around to watch her and keep her out of your way. She sounds like an hilarious cutie!
Adina,
She is a riot...and it really doesn't annoy us....we did have to work on No and she has been with us for 4 weeks and already responds well now to a verbal command. I just wish you guys could see her fly to get to the bathroom in our bedroom when she hears the shower start and race to get inside. I put a towel rack with a towel over it and she flew head first into it and looked like a kid when their favorite toy is taken away. Have a great day. Lizette
Dogs are so funny. We had a lab puppy years ago who we took out in the boat the week we got her. She dived right into the lake. We fished her out, and the next time she got the chance she jumped back into the lake. Most doodles, like most retrievers have no fear of water at all. We also had a miniature poodle who jumped into the tub when he wanted a bath - and would stay there until someone took him up on his offer. Now with our big doodles, we have a dog bathing area in the laundry room with concrete floors and a ramp. We keep learning from our dogs. Enjoy!
That's cute! My 2 doodles don't like the water. We have a nice dog park near us and they have a nice pond for the dogs. I tried taking mine into it, but they won't go in. NO water dogs here at my house!
