Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi All, new member with a question.
Last week I adopted a puppy from a local rescue. The rescue folks told me that he had been rescued from a breeder who was "trying" to breed mini golden doodles but she got sick and had to give up some of her dogs. The rescuer was told that this little guy was from a litter whose Mum was a small golden (around 40lbs) and dad was a miniature poodle (20lbs). He is about 13 - 14 weeks old and weighs in right now at 10lbs 4oz. He had to have his hair cut all the way down to about 1" all over before I got a chance to meet him because he was matted. His "puppy cut" is quite curly but straight on his legs. Unfortunately the breeder cropped his tail (sorry, but what was she thinking? This is illegal where I come from). Anyway, of course it doesn't really matter what he is as we already adore him but if there is anyone out there with an opinion I would love to hear it. This is CJ before his hair cut. He's the white one. His ears are beige and he has a faint beige stripe running down his back. His profile picture was taken at the weekend. Short of a DNA test are there any "tell-tail" signs that I have a doodle?

I would definately say he is a doodle although I can't venture a guess about his eventual size. I really do not remember Gracie's weight at that age. I am including a photo of Grace at about that age, excuse the wet parts soaked with GSD puppy slobber! LOL
He is absolutely adorable.....lucky you to find him! He certainly looks like a 'mini' to me but I guess only time and his weight/size gain will tell. I believe the 'mini' category can weigh in, full grown between 15 to 35 lbs. Brady who is a mini weighs 24 lbs at 10 months .... I have a weight chart through his puppy months at the bottom of his (Brady Goose) profile page. Enjoy this little guy.....lovely!
I would bet that you have a mini goldendoodle. Everything you are describing fits our puppy to a T. At 4 months, our puppy weighed about 9 lb, now at 9 months weighs about 15 pounds. I doubt ours will be over 20 lb at maturity.
