Well, Riley's hair has been growing and growing.  No mats yet but he looks like a big bear.  I love that natural look so I was just into a tidying up sort of grooming session and today was the day.  I'm known for my impatience and my gusto so I was trying hard not to be over zealous.  All was going well until I decided to take the hair under his ears very short to let the air at them.  I popped on the number 10 blade and well...went a little too far...right down to the skin to be exact.  The good news that  even though he is totally nude under one ear you can't actually see it unless he's running or his ear flicks back.  The bad news is that I haven't told his Dad yet.  So here is the question.  Do I tell him before he finds the bald patch or say nothing.  He goes mad with me when he sees all my grooming tools coming out anyway!  Riley is totally cool with the whole thing.  The rest of him looks fine.  I feel awful.  It's dinner time soon I was thinking of getting out a nice bottle of wine and cooking a lovely meal for Riley's Dad?

UPDATE***

Well, dinner is over, the wine is gone but coward here couldn't say a word.  Here are two pictures I just took with my iPhone so not great.  The second is my best (drunken) attempt at the bald spot... (you try holding up an ear and taking a pic at the same time ; ) )

BTW he hasn't noticed anything yet and Man and dog have been playing on the floor for ages.

firstly, please post a picture. Secondly, if you are really worreid about him being mad you could tell him the he was all matted and you didn't have a choice. Thirdly, the bottle of wine should work. If not, just turn on your feminin charm. He'll forget all about it!

I would say nothing.  Then if he does notice it, just say "well I mentioned it the other day".  It's not actually a lie...you did mention it...just not to him.  Because my DH is usually only half listening to me, it goes no further.  He doesn't want to admit that I might have told him something that he "tuned out".

Jane, I had a friend that used to buy new stuff and put it in the back of her closet. Weeks later she would get it out and when her DH commented, she always said, "oh, I have had this for awhile." Sometimes, a half listening husband is the best kind...LOL!!

@ Jane & Laurie, say nothing, cause they wont notice.  If you got a guy that notices, I'd be suprised.  I used to be a zoning/codes enforcement officer, I could quickly ride thru the countryside and know if there was a new construction situation going on.  Hell weeks later my DH would say, hey they have a new barn!  yah, really?

Oh yes, for many years I kept new stuff in the trunk of the car...same strategy.  Now I just parade it in right in front of DH, give him that look that says "are you really even going to mention this, or would you rather make your own dinner".  I wish I had learned this years ago.

LOL!   I love this Jane!    I still play games with new clothes.  Not bringing them in from the car when DH is around....I have NO idea why I still do this sometimes.   He has never said anything and I know he never would question my purchases.    It's me....for some crazy reason I feel guilty when I spend money on myself.

Exactly the same here.  He would never remember if I wore it last season.  and my purchases mean nothing, but still i hide or fib a bit......

Maybe we should start a group ....    : )

I would just let it be too! If your DH is like mine he won't even notice. Doodle hair grows so fast so why stress the poor guy out?  Think of it as doing him a favor.:)

Tell him while you are holding the scissors in your hands and wave them around in his direction and say, "You're next, if you say one bad thing." LOL I bet he says nothing....hahaha!!

LMAO

Haha!!     Riley is very cute!
