With all of these Blue Buffalo recalls that I have been reading about here on DK lately (not specifically his food I don't think) I am starting to get nervous about keeping him on the Blue Buffalo with all of the issues they have been having with their products. How would I go about properly switching him from the Blue Buffalo Wilderness to a Fromm grain free without messing up his tummy!?

Just to be sure, did you find any beyond the 2010 recall? We use it as well.
Not entirely sure...people here have been posting stuff recently. http://www.doodlekisses.com/profiles/blogs/blue-buffalo-recall this is the most recent link I have seen, but I know in the summer I think, all those chicken jerky snacks were recalled too because it's all made in China.
These FDA reports are everything from the 2007 recalls forward. They're not current.
Okay good to know.
Katie, there have been no BB recalls since 2010, and that was not really a problem with the food itself. An infinitesimally small number of dogs, out of all the thousands of dogs who were eating the BB Wilderness formula developed a problem related to vitamin D. It was determined that for some unknown reason, those particular dogs had something in their physiological makeup that reacted adversely to the vitamin levels in the food. There were no foreign substances, toxins, etc. in the products, and nothing from China. The chicken jerky issues are completely unrelated.
However, I personally would choose Fromm over BB when possible, so if you want to switch, there's no reason not to do so. Choose the Fromm grain-free formula that is most similar to the Wilderness formula that Parker is currently eating in terms of animal proteins (i.e. chicken based, fish based, whatever). Then begin by substituting about a quarter of Parker's BB with the Fromm food. (Check the calories per cup in both formulas to be sure they are close to the same. If there's a big difference, like 50 calories more or less per cup between the two, let me know and we'll figure out the proportions.) Over a period of about a week- 10 days, gradually increase the amount of Fromm as you decrease the amount of BB. Don't introduce any other new foods, treats, chews, etc. during the transition.
If at some point, Parker decides he likes the Fromm better and starts trying to pick it out of the bowl, go ahead and switch him cold turkey. If his digestive system is healthy and normal, the worst that can happen is you'll have loose stool for a few days.
Okay thanks! I will let you know what the calories are because I would have no idea how to do the correct proportions! lol He is on salmon food now so I will get the grain free salmon tunalini for Parker first for the transition. If we wanna alternate the different flavors after he has transitioned well, is that okay? He does seem to get bored if he has the same thing all the time!
Yep, once he's transitioned and his poop is normal, you can choose a different formula with each new bag.
Okay, got the bag of Fromm today and it is 422.38 cal/cup for 3 cups a day and blue buffalo is 415 cal/cup. Not a huge difference but I don't want this chunk getting fat! I may give him 2 3/4 cups of the Fromm instead of 3 like I was with Blue Buffalo too since there's more calories and he does get a couple cookies a day in his crate.
Katie, 7 calories per cup difference is nothing. Nothing. Nada, zip. It's like one green bean. I don't know what Parker weighs, but to give you an idea of calorie requirements, Jack requires 1600 calories per day to maintain his current weight. And he's 7 years old and not terribly active.
Parker is still growing. If you cut the food by a quarter of a cup, you're cutting 85 calories from his daily intake, as opposed to adding 21 calories for the day if you give him the three cups. You should definitely give him the recommended amount of food, he needs it.
Well he is on the low end of the weight range at 55lbs for the 50-70lb weight range and it says 2 3/4 cups to 3 cups for that weight range.
I'm confused. I'm looking at the Fromm website, and the new Salmon Tunalini has 407.34 k/cal per cup. The feeding guidelines say 3 to 4 cups for dogs 50-70 lbs.

Did you buy a different formula?
Also, the guidelines are for adult dogs. Notice below the feeding guidelines where it says that puppies and pregnant or lactating dogs may require 2-4 times the recommended amount.
The Surf and Turf has 422.38 kcal/cup, maybe you got that one? But it still says 3 to 4 cups for dogs 50-70 lbs.
