Tell us ... why did you choose a goldendoodle?

I loved the golden retriever attributes and the poodle attributes...I thought this was the ideal dog. I chose f1b because I wanted a non-shedding pet.

Well I originally wanted a labradoodle, but I saw an ad from a breeder nearby, for Golden Doodles, and since it was not to far, we went to see them, and I just fell in love with one of them...Aka, our Oliver...I knew from the minute he came to us and looked at me, I was a goner...Well he is just a love, and so cute and sooo smart...Yes having a new puppy was a trip in a half for me, lol, but he is now housebroken, the chewing stage is basically over, and we have a wonderful sweet, funny, "big goofy dog" to love us and we love him to pieces...He is the best thing that has happened to our 12 yr old Aussie, they love each other, and Renny has the patience of a saint with him...They play and play, and has given him a second time at life...Ollie loves him, and vice versa, they are buddies, and it is amazing to watch them together..We have no idea what his coat will be, he is curly in some parts, and wavy in others...But he is a beautiful Champagen color so far with a white chest..I am so happy we chose a golden doodle.!!!!!..P.S. It was DH that brought him home for me, and then we went to see the other llitter mates, but this one was mine from the start...We are lucky, so far he does not shed...!!!!
Wanted another Golden Retriever but not as big and no shedding. I researched the Labradoodle and something just wasn't clicking. Saw the Goldendoodle and fell in love. A perfect pairing. Smart yet silly, no shedding and Lucca is only 35 lbs. A lot more manageable than a 70 lb Golden Retreiver.
Well we have an F1 goldendoodle called Cody. Again it was love at first sight, a very spontaneous decision. My hubbie and I have never regretted it. His personality is amazing. Has some quirks (probably bad training on my part) He was the easiest dog to house train. He is now almost 15 months old and I think has finally stopped growing. He is 71 lbs.

I also like Golden Retrievers, but when bred with a standard poodle they tend to be quite large.  I think Lucca was a GR/miniature poodle mix and that is a better size.  Groucho Too, although a very loveable dog, is 90 pounds and 30 inches tall.  Hondo was even larger, but when I got my next dog I wanted a smaller size.  I think you are on the right track.

We have two GD babies and they are the best ever. We had a Golden retriever and she was wonderful but the shedding was a real pain. So the Goldendoodle is perfect. We're very lucky because we have both a first and a second generation and neither shed. However, we do find that the second generation Bella-smaller girl is much more poodle than our Rozee. Rozee is a BIG girl (75#) but so gentle and easy going that we call her our "Perfect Dood". Rozee is now 3.5 years and Bella is 2 years.
Why not a Goldendoodle? They are absolutely the best there is. The perfect dog and the love, happiness and friendship they give you is beyond anything you can imagine.
Here's my story and I'm stick'n to it.....................
I was wanting a dog that did not shed or just minimally, so as I was talking about it at work and friend of mine told me about goldendoodles. She said she saw some advertised in the Sunday paper. I had never heard of them so, the computer nut that I am, not saying i know anything about computers, I googled them and researched for months and looked at a ton of breeders until I found a puppy in Florida. DoodleKisses did not exist at that time and I was dumb. I almost sent a downpayment when I came across a breeder's site in Colorado that had puppies from a friend of hers in Ohio. (We live in Pa. and I would be able to drive to pick the puppy up). WELL, I contacted that breeder and that is where I found Lucy. I really wanted an F1b, but due to cost "settled" for a F1. Hahahahahaha, yes settled, I just said. I love all doodles, but I am so glad I "settled" for a F1, I love her and I love the shaggy look. Her coat is a spiral fleece and I love it.
SO, that is my story, and I'm stick'n to it. ;-)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE doodles and have my third one now.  My first was a labradoodle, then a goldendoodle, and now my newest dog is an ALD.  One thing everyone should consider is size.  The size of the poodle really determines the size of the puppy.  The golden retrievers are a certain size, but mixing them with a standard poodle, miniature poodle, or toy poodle will definitely affect their size.  My preference is the miniature poodle which will give you a doodle between 30 and 50 pounds.  If you have the room (inside and outside your house) for a large dog, then go with the standard poodle mix, but most people would probably prefer smaller dogs to share their homes.

We have the F1b golden doodle named Lilly. She is wonderful
