HGE??(Hemorrhagic Gastro-enteritis)

I am so upset right now, I can barely see the screen through my tears. My beautiful Jaxon has been having diarrhea for a couple of days, and then started vomiting last night. I decided to take him in to the vet, and am so glad I did. There was a lot of blood in his stool/rectum and the vet has kept him in to give him IV fluids, antibiotics and anti-nausea meds.  I just feel so sad, helpless, and hoping and praying he is going to be ok.  The vet said it was probably something he ate and called it "hemorrhagic gastro-enteritis", but wants to treat it aggressively.  Has anyone had any experiences with this. Of course I had to "google" it, and have scared myself half to death with all the "could-be's".  After calling my hubby my first thought was to come on DK and get some support. Thanks ahead of time. My other 2 doods are feeling my sadness too....

Update: Jaxon is perking up...still kind of tired. He is taking his meds like a pro and getting his twinkle back in his eyes! So grateful of the great medical care he got and to have him home.  My thoughts and prayers are now with Jane and lil Guinness.
