Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I was looking around on the net and found a breeder that has blue eyed Goldendoodles. They claim to be the only ones with blue eyed GD,s.Wont most of the puppies eyes turn from blue to some other darker color? They charge more for a blue eyed GD than the other colors.I wonder if they give some money back if the puppies eyes dont stay blue.LOL.I really like the blue eyes but ive heard that the breeder is not so good.Health and temperment is obviously more important than eye color.Does anyone have a blue eyed doodle?I would love to see pictures.

Both my doodles have greenish-amber eyes but I have never seen an adult goldendoodle or labradoodle with true blue eyes. I would wonder about the mix/genetics. My two both had blue looking eyes as pups.

Luca at 5 weeks.

Adorable!!

Now that's a beautiful puppy.

My hubby's AussieDoodle has one blue eye and one brown eye, but it's definitely the shepherd in him.  He's a great dog, btw.  Got him from DRC!

Just curious were there any photos of adults with blue eyes on that site? Because tiny puppies aren't a good representation of adult eye color.  Even human babies who end up with brown eyes can start off with blue eyes as young babies.

Most of the images on the page for Blue Eyed doodles are pups except for one adult, that doesn't look very natural. Hmmm. Also the breeder says the eyes may not remain blue, one may be blue and the other turns brown etc. Hmmm.

F. Parker,

You explained this well in an old post of Adrianne Matzkins.  I can't find it.   " Why puppy eyes photograph blue"

Do you remember this discussion?   It might help Jared.

I did? I remember one on the gold eye effect. And what ever happened to the writer of this discussion? here's an explanation though.

We state on our website that the eyes can change AS A PUPPY.  We have never stated they do not remain blue as an adult.  Stop reading more into what our website says.

My brown goldendoodle had blue / green eyes when I got her at 8 weeks. At 13 weeks they are a warm amber color. It would have been nice if they stayed green.

That's a given.  All chocolate Poodles have green eyes.  Always.

Brown poodles have dark amber eyes, or should, according to the breed standard. Amber is the "correct" eye color for brown poodles, and I think it's beautiful.

From the AKC Poodle Breed Standard:

Brown and cafe-au-lait Poodles have liver-colored noses, eye-rims and lips, dark toenails and dark amber eyes. Black, blue, gray, silver, cream and white Poodles have black noses, eye-rims and lips, black  or self colored toenails and very dark eyes. In the apricots while the foregoing  coloring is preferred, liver-colored noses, eye-rims and lips, and amber eyes are permitted but are not desirable. Major fault: color of nose,  lips and eye-rims incomplete, or of wrong color for color of dog
