These are some photos I took in class last night.  Just wanted to share.  Please feel free to critique them.

Seems too dark to me.  I think the light needed to be further to the front, and less onto the backdrop,

You're probably right :) I haven't actually been in a studio to be able to see how changing the position of the light changes things.  Makes sense though since the backdrop would be darker and she would "pop" more.

Wow, they are all amazing.  What a great class...I'm jealous.  Any tips that would help us with our portraits?

I couldn't do these shots without the studio lighting.  The photographer has these huge soft box lights set up with a cord that attaches to a hot shoe converter on my camera.  All I have to do is set the shutter speed and aperture and the lights all go off when I press the button on the camera!  The light placement is something I am still working on, as is the proper exposure.  The lens I used for these is a 4.5-5.6 so it isn't a low light lens but it doesn't matter when those strobe lights go off.  He has talked a lot about body part placement.  Things like never shooting with an elbow toward the camera, cupping the hands and keeping the outside of the hand toward the camera, avoiding shooting the eyes with too much white of the eye showing...various lighting techniques like broad and short lighting, Rembrandt lighting, lighting the hair, back lighting and fill flash.  If you are interested in any of these things I will share anything I know about it.  I also have some photos that turned out really badly that I can share showing what was wrong.
