So, Ember has recently been going on a breakfast strike. It happened periodically before but now it is all the time.  When I'm home on the weekends or have a late start to my day, she grazes and eventually does eat it, but on days when I leave in  the morning or she goes to daycare... What should I do? dinner is never a problem, always eats it right up.

Anyone else have doods that refuse breakfast? I worry about her getting enough nutrition.

I almost wish Camus were a finicky eater!  He is on the opposite end of the eating spectrum - only refuses to eat when he does not feel well.  He is a food motivated dog.

Knox never met a meal he didn't like!! Unfortunately for him, i really am considering cutting his breakfast down and then out! He's not going to be happy, lol!

Luca often doesn't eat til afternoon or sometimes evening. Eventually he gets most if not all of his food in if Calla is kept at bay. She, on the other hand gobbles breakfast and dinner when served : )

Ned rarely eats breakfast.  He prefers to eat once a day whether I leave it down for grazing or not.

Chewie never refuses food, but I had a foster dog who does. So I used a method I read somewhere and it worked brilliantly.

Basically, I take away the food after 15mins. After 2-3 meals of this, the dog got the idea. Either eat or starve.

Seems cruel but I think it's the only way that I find that works. Should also avoid coaching and cajoling the dog while they eat as it becomes a bad habit.

Oliver went thru a period of being a really finiky eater, I was lucky if he ate half of his reqired daily food.  That was this past summer, once the weather got cooler he now eats in the morning and evening.  I did switch him to grain free and added toppers to his food.  He is 20 months old so I really need to see if it happens this summer.  Do you put toppers on Ember's food?  maybe change the brand of food?  Oliver's fav. topper is liver :)  I only put a couple of spoonfulls on his food, I warm it up too and mix in all in - he just loves it :)

Wheeler is a lot like some of the other Doods, he grazes through the day, a nibble here & there & when the husby & I eat dinner is when he eats his food. I'm not worried though, he isn't very active in the morning or early afternoon, so he probably isn't very hungry then. He gets his play streak around 4 PM, when he gets his big workout play in, then that's when he gets hungry. He's just turned 1 on Sunday & he has done this since we brought him home at 8 weeks.
And naturally, today she ate it right up. How bizarre!!

I don't usually put toppings on the food unless she needs some pumpkin. I did throw in a couple pieces of dog treat this morning, which is probably why she ate. I just get worried sending her to daycare without eating. Even if I bring the food to daycare she won't always eat it. I suppose as many of you said... She'll eat of she's hungry!
*if. Silly iPhone...

Mine wake me at 3:30am to eat!!! They never refuse food!

I hope she can change this on her own, I understand your concern.

Huff does not eat breakfast, sometimes lunch if he is hungry enough. It sounds like he doesn't eat a lot and he does not but that is his fault. He never wants to eat, he always wants to be fed or coaxed.
