Does anyone have suggestions or thoughts on pet health insurance?

I am a huge fan of Pet Plan. I have dealt with them a ton of times. They are fast and friendly. They cover genetic conditions if you are already covered before the illness occurs.

I have filed two claims with Pet Plan and had no problems whatsoever with getting payment.  I was even able to get "pre-authorization" for Cooper's expensive Splenoportogram and possible surgery by submitting the proper forms and medical records.  They did this within 2 days.   I was very impressed. 

I used to be with VPI and at that time, I wasn't aware of any pre-authorization being available for any planned procedures.   The other thing I like about Pet Plan is that they cover Congenital or Hereditary issues as long as they are not apparent when you take out the plan.  

You can get a 5% discount for using the code "Doodle"   another 5% for having your pet microchipped and another 5% for signing up online and autopayment.   A total of 15% discount off the premium.

i just recently purchased my first pet insurance policy.  I have read many discussions on here about it, and I made the decision to go with Pet Plan.  Thank God I haven't used it yet and hope I never have to.  I now have peace of mind  :)

I also have Pet Plan, and I'm so thankful I got pet insurance when they were puppies.  The bills from this latest episode of Pancreatitis are $3500...still waiting to see how much is going to be covered.

Get insurance and get it right away. May it be the biggest waste of money you've ever spent- meaning I hope you never need to use the insurance. I too, have Pet Plan. With the codes, discounts, etc I pay $19.00 a month on a three year old doodle, plus they sent me $25.00 gift card.
If you have a friend, who also uses Pet Plan and recommends you, they get another gift card :)

I also just purchased my first pet insurance plan for my 5 month old goldendoodle. I went with Pet Plan. If you purchase a plan this month, they send a $25 visa card. Also, if you use the code DOODLE you can get an extra 5% off. I found that company to have plans that were easy to understand. I had heard good things about their claims response and payment. And there were several options for what you wanted to pay for a deductible and how much money you wanted to be reimbursed.

I think that unless you have a very deep wallet Pet Insurance is really important.  The treatments and procedures that are now available for dogs are amazing and cost a lot, especially it would seem in the US. The last thing that I personally would want is to have to worry about the cost of treatment.  Peace of mind is what insurance gives me.  I wouldn't hesitate.
