Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I wanted to let all of you know I think I messed up big time! I have heard that the goldnedoodle is a water lover. Well, second day at our home Molly fell into our pool...screamed like crazy. I pulled her out and thought to myself maybe she won't like water as much as I anticipated. We also live on a lake and I was hoping for a water lover. Well, I was taking my shower and she ventured closer and closer...I coaxed her a little and all of a sudden she decided it was ok. NOW she has decided that standing under the shower is the best ever. I have tried to keep her out since we have an open shower stall but to no avail...she now darts in and out daring me to catch her...which is quite inconvenient as you can surmise. She hears the shower start and bamm she is there. SHE LOVES the WATER...particularly the shower. So, for those of you that I have read about that struggle with doodle baths...try the shower...AND keep extra towels handy. Have a great evening. I will be honest with you...I have never owned a puppy that was so smart. I came home from the grocery store and my husband with one treat taught her to speak. She amazes us each and every day. In 4 weeks Molly only had one accident in the house. Lizette from Conroe, TX

Hey Jessica,
I bought the treat at the vet's because she is such a finicky eater and wouldn't accept any natural treats. It is the one that has the same properties as heartgaurd meds (of course w/o the med in it). I can break it into 4 little pieces and she loves the chewy thing. Molly is such a fussy eater...and I have to add a little grated lowfat cheese to even get her to eat and she is the same about treats. I have never had a puppy that eats so little at 3 months of age. Have you noticed when you look into a doodles eyes they look like they are analyzing the situation and you. Loved your pics!!!
When Fergie was tiny (8 - 16 wks) she always slept in the shower - of course it wasn't on. Fergie does love the water too. Doodles are so fuzzy and furry - they are just hot. I live on a lake in WI so I can't let her in whenever. Now the waters freezing - but very thin at this time. She wouldn't know that and I'd be nervous about her breaking through. Anyway, point is - doodles do anything to play and stay cool. Fergie's so happy for winter.
Hi Fr Molly and Lizette,
I hope they don't get toooooo hot...our summers here are sweltering in TX and very humid since we only live a few hours from the gulf coast. We have a pool and I am sure Molly will love swimming in it since she can easily get out with our lagoon entrance. Have a great weekend.
