When we were younger and my DH was buying me lingerie for every XMAS, Birthday, Valentines Day he did tend to usually choose red....I never understood why until just now.  Wow this group is pretty enlightening.  Now that I think of it I haven't seen any red nightwear in quite a few years....I'm guessing the flannel PJs don't often come in red.

In the depression, there were only two merchandise items that did not slow down in sales.  For the ladies--LIPSTICK.  Guess the other item.  It did not slow down in the latest recession either.

I for one, love lipstick.   One of my fondest memories was writing love notes  with  little Avon samples of lipstick.  I loved those little samples
