Owen ate a dry diaper. My DD took the grandkids to the park while I took a quick nap. When I woke up, I found just bits and pieces of a dry diaper. Owen was chomping down the last of it as I came in the room. I called the vet who had us come in. He induced vomiting but not that much came up. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm worried sick that the diaper is going to swell up in his belly.
UPDATE:
He finally pooped. Found some gel in it. I imagine that he will evacuate more, but I think he will be fine. I'm so relieved. Thanks for all of your kindness and concern.

Rosco's eaten 2-3 full ones. No problems. I wish I could figure out WHY he'd want to though...they were full of pee.
Maybe that's EXACTLY why he wanted them. lol
Luna has some pretty odd eating quirks too - we were in the park today and Luna decided she wanted to just start eating mud/grass. She has an obsession with eating grass roots (and the mud that clings to them).
Hopefully Owen is okay - I think the strategy of giving lots of water and hoping for the best is probalby a good idea! I hope he tore it into tiny pieces before gobbling it down :p
What was left was in teeny tiny pieces! What came up was a bit bigger. Still waiting for a poop.
Silly Owen!! Diapers are for babies!
I really hope he's ok!!
Sounds like "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!" How do I convince him that he is supposed to only eat dog food? He has systematically eaten all of the raspberry bushes from the roots! The list is too long to write. sigh.
It sounds cute from here, but I'm sure that must be frustrating for you. Winston likes to get into stuff he's not supposed sometimes too. He likes ripping up tennis balls and rubber toys and eating them, so I have to watch him really closely when playing with certain toys. Sophie is into socks and underwear these days. It's nerve racking for sure.
What a guy!
I hope this all passes with no problem.
So sorry Bonnie! Very scary stuff! I searched a bit on some forums because I thought that surely Owen is not the first dog to eat a diaper and I found this:
I am occasionally using disposables at night and the other day one of my dogs got into a "used" one (gross i know!). Needless to say there was shredded diaper and gel-like "stuff" everywhere on the carpet. I was really nervous about my dog ingesting the gel material so I called Pampers and asked them about it. They said that the stuff is made out of the same materials that gel caps are made out of (like in Tylenol gel caps) and that it was ingestible. They tell parents of kids who may have eaten the material that it should go right through their system and is "harmless".
I don't know how to confirm this but it makes sense that they would not put toxic things into infant items. The main concern seems to be a blockage forming especially in small dogs but I haven't read about that happening either.
Hope this turns out to be a non issue. Please keep us posted and sending positive thoughts for all of you!
Ricki, Thank you so very, very much for this assurance! I feel so much safer having read what you posted. Owen at the WHOLE thing... barely a scrap un-consumed. I will definitely keep you posted on the "leavings" tomorrow. Thanks again.
Ned has eaten not dry diapers that were not properly thrown away - can't get the kids to use only the trash behind a closed door. Grosssssssss. No adverse results.
Good to know. Thanks, Nancy.
Oh Owen.... what have you done !!! I hope it passes. What posseses them to eat something that has no taste what so ever??? When my doodles get a hold of something usually they just rip it apart and not eat it - well most of the time but then again its just paper. I hope Owen passes everything without any issues, please keep us posted.
