Okay, I'm loosing it but what a better place to loose it than DK.

With the increase in popularity of some breeds of dogs the increase in pros and cons occur.

Take for example the increase in demand for  Dalmatians after the movie,  101 Dalmatians,  was released in 1996. Many of these dogs were found to be over bred and not the great family pets as once thought.  Many dogs lost their homes when families found they had to train them or this was not the right dog for a family, or " I bought the dog for my children but found they do not take care of the dog", etc.

Now with Doodles we are all witnessing the increase in popularity, BYB, adoptions, and posts that have become heart wrenching here on DK of those looking to re-home their dogs.  Expect to see more.

On to my point-CHICKENS.

In my area, and across the country, designer chickens are becoming a culturally  popular animal to get and place in the backyard. Cities in my area are now faced with voting on Chicken legislation.

Students and residents at Kent State University lost their battle to keep chickens in the yard.  Nearby, the City of Green, will allow the chickens but no roosters.  So no eggs.  My other son complained his professor talked more about his chickens than he did instructing his class.  Last week, a family member talked on and on about his chickens and how trendy they are.  All his friends were getting them.  In my area, it is everywhere.  It is a fad?   Designer Chickens.

I wonder if there are ChickenKisses.com?   I wonder if Petfinder.com will have 1/2 million chickens for adoption?

The above Chicken, BETTY, needs a fenced in yard, another chicken to keep her company.  She also has fears the sky is falling... the ad reads on.

bwahahahaha. Love it, Donna!

We have a fish farm and a duck farm up the road and I'm inundated with duck eggs as the farmer drops them in every week.   I was always told that keeping chickens brings vermin as the grain attracts them so perhaps as well as Chicken Kisses we may also get RatandMicekisses to go along with them!  Will they need a Chickenrun when they need fostering or  perhaps grainfree grain food?  Are they always kept outdoors or are there indoor Chickens and is there ChickenPet insurance for when they peck each other?  When you go on holidays do they need a Chicken Sitter or is it only the Chickens who do the sitting?  I have loads more questions....need I go on?

Thank goodness someone besides me is thinking about all of this and I am not the only one loosing it.   I just have so many thoughts on this entire issue.  I have so much to do but yet I sit and contemplate the plight of the emerging Chicken Fad

There always nutty company here : )

:) ~  Oh ya

This is eggactly the kind of discussion we need right now.

Perfect, Donna!

Eggcellent in fact. Ad I would never eggsagerate.

My DH use to work with a woman who kept her chickens in her house!  Uck!!!

I once dated a guy--okay it was only one date but his bird  had the run of the house.   The entire house was covered in newspaper and the bird... well you get the idea.  Just a really droppy situation.

Anyway, the bird swooped down and attacked me.  The End.

See my dad caught on at least.

Yes he did. I'm surprised it lasted two days.  He must have been extremely patient.

I told F.J. this story at dinner tonight.  Get this, we ate chicken.  But, he asked if you ate chicken in the days following your story
