I was curious if doodles that shed also matt? Our new puppy sheds a little and I'm hoping that means he wont matt as easily as some doodles do. He currently seems to have more of a retriever coat than a poodle coat. I know all of that can change once his adult coat comes in but I expect he will always shed to some degree.

My question is for those of you with doodles that shed, do you deal with matt's as well?

Snicks sheds very little more like little balls of fur than strands. He definitely mats but not as much as when he had his puppy coat

It isn't even the once or twice a week part that is the real joke.  As a 4 year old we brush Ned once or twice a week now.  What about the part about spending  40 to to 60 minutes doing it!!!!!!!

My shedding doodle will occasionally get a matt but it is almost always easily brushed out.

Yes, and cut mats frequently : )

Owen sheds a little bit. He only mats in his arm pits. I've yet to find a way to shave him there. I know that's the answer, but he seems to be ticklish or just clever enough to keep me from being successful trimming that area. Kona doesn't shed but he mats.

Oliver sheds and he hardly matts,  and is very easy to brush and comb out.  Sasha my Goldendoodle is VERY poodley does not she and matts, it takes a long time to groom her.
